Would like to check if the intake size for ATS has reduced since 2019
I saw it was 330 in the past but 260 slots from Phase 1 (I assume another 20 + 20 for Phase 2b/2c, so total 300).
There seems to be an increasing trend for Phase 1 and Phase 2A1 even, and this year is the 1st time that 2A2 is balloting?
My daughter is a SG50 baby and registering next year.
We are alumni status but it seems there could be a chance that 2A1 may ballot next yr, esp given SG50 babies > dragon yr.
Contemplating shifting near the school in case there is balloting (home prices ard ATS is crazy!)
Any kind thoughts or comments?
Yes, it's possible that balloting for Phase 2A1 will happen one day... and \"SG50\" year may be that day (or it may not).
However, the good news is you don't really have to shift to within 1km of the school; within 2 km should be good enough (AMK has slightly more reasonable prices). Compared to most schools, ATS has a slightly smaller catchment area within 1km due to:
1. Two huge reservoirs and 1 big park
2. High concentration of low density housing within 1km
3. Matured estates within 1km (and very few new, big scale developments)
Therefore, I think balloting within < 1km and even < 2km is most likely not going to happen.
Furthermore, there are several reasons preventing most people to shift to within 1km:
1. HDB prices in Bishan / Thomson / Upper Thomson =
2. Private apartment / landed prices in Bishan / Thomson / Upper Thomson = :scared:
3. GCB prices in Windsor Park = :yikes:
Guess we will still need to shift near the school to 'confirm chop guarantee' then..cuz we also don't have a back up or alternate school to go to. ATS or nothing!
