Just for the record, "The Schools’ Internal Master WL’s Ranking List" is not verified by anyone from any secondary school, from the best of my knowledge. It is just an "agreed" or "logical" approach finalised by friendly parents here to share their experiences. Which we always needed and helpful too.

For example,

Each Domain, like netball, maths, etc, will submit the number of students they wanted to the School DSA committee at the start. Or vice versa. The school will then have an expected total number of DSA intake from there. usually 20% of total intake for sec 1.

Turning the focus to a particular domain. The teachers-in-charge (TIC) gotten the magical number of 3. They start to enlist and interview potential students, i am guessing maybe 10 or more, not important. They will CO to 3, and WL to 3-5 more. After the DSA option dateline. If 2 accepted CO, the first one from this WL list got the offer. or the TIC can also meet and decide who is the one from WL get the offer. Nothing to do with other domain CO or WL. If zero accepted the CO, 3 from the WL list will get the confirmation. Worst case scenario, all 3 COs and 3-5WLs rejected, none will go to that domain. Or the TIC can also CO to only 2 if they deem only 2 are good enough.

So the school’s final number of DSA students for the year will be the allocated number at the beginning, could be less but not more. Thats also how they can limit the 20% maximum.

Does this system sounds more logical? or obscured?

Either way, it does not make it the DSA system that schools adopt.

some publisher will have some, if not many variety of words used within the editions. (in this case; penguin classic vs wordsworth — i have both)
