June bought a book at $32.10 inclusive of GST 7%.

She was given a 20% discount before the GST and the shopkeeper still earned a profit of 20%.
Calculate the profit the shopkeeper would have earned before the discount.

Can someone help?
TIA

Let the price before GST as $x
(107/100) * $x = $32.10
x = (100/107) x 32.10
=$30

Let the price before discount as $y
(80/100) x $y = 30
y = (100/80) x $30
= $37.50

Let the price before profit be $k
(120/100) x $k = 37.50
k = (100/120) x 37.50
= $31.25

Therefore profit before discount = $37.50 - $31.25
=$6.25

Hi Panda168

Thank you for your help.
But the answer given is not $6.25.
Can I know the answer? Is it $12.50?

SOS mum:
Hi, ps help. Many tks and God Bless:)

1) In 2 hours, the distance travelled by a car is 30km more than a bus. If they can travel 135km in 1 hour, find their speeds.

2) I think of a two-digit number. The sum of the digits is 13. When I reverse the digits of the number, I get another number whose value is 9 more than the first number. What is the number I thought of? (Must use simultaneous Linear Equations)
1) Assuming the distance are travel in constant speed. Therefore in 1 hr, the car will travel 15km more than the bus. Let the distance travel by the bus in 1 hr be x km. Than distance travel by car in 1 hr is (x+15) km

135 = x + x + 15
2x = 120
x = 60 km

Therefore the speed of the bus is 60 km/h and the speed of the car is 75 km/h.

Without using a calculator, evaluate the following:
Sin^2 67.5⁰ (the number 2 is the exponent -- I dunno how to show it)

Trigonometry is difficult.
