papababy, is your girl doing grade 1 yet? Personally i would reccomend to let them play on a keyboard until you're sure of their interest as a piano is a hefty investment.

I prefer 2nd hand pianos as a well maintained one would be well seasoned so it'd be easier to play on
i'd imagine it to be more challenging for a beginner to season a new piano well (from what i understand from my child's piano teacher)

so if possible, may be you could invite your child's music teacher to evaluate the pianos with you?
if no such option then i would rather purchase a brand new piano but those made in japan type
Hi Sleepy thanks, had discuss with my wife for the pass few days and decided on a electric piano Kawai CN25 the touch is very close to an acoustic piano, until she get better with her piano then will upgrade it to acoustic piano.

      :thankyou:

    • RE: All About Choosing and Buying Pianos

      Hi All,

My daughter (5yr) just started to learn piano a few months ago and had ask me for a \"real piano\" I think acoustic is the correct word. She is using those toy electronic piano for practice and comment that it is no good and too small.

I had never learn piano before so had no idea what to look for, had done some research over the past few days and know that Yamaha and Kawai are quite a good piano. I am currently staying in Thailand so my pricing is in below are conversion from THB. All those 2nd hand piano are imported from Japan and come with 5 year warranty and 3 to 5 time tuning depending on which shop.

      2nd hand Yamaha U1 $3800 around 20+yrs
      2nd hand Yamaha U3 $5000 around 20+yrs
      2nd hand Yamaha YU3 S$5500 around 20+yrs.
      1st hand Kawai K-3 $5400.
      2nd hand Kawai US6X $5500 I think 20+ to30yrs
      2nd hand Kawai K3 $3500 around 20+years

Had seen some price over in Sg and find that Thailand price are so much more expensive :siao:

Kindly advise what should I buy.

      Thanks,

      Papababy
