May I know if you are offered NUS scholarship, can you accept now and reject later ?

Deadline of acceptance is by Nov, which is before the start of most university applications and the reason for turning down the offer maybe you get another offer for another course or from another university which you will only know in Apr next year.

The dilemma is if you reject the offer now and you are not accepted by your other choice later, you have already forgo your scholarship.

Anyone has similar experience ? Thanks !

From their briefing session, what they said contradicts what u just said, unless they got another special window for early application. It opens 13oct ends 26dec i think. The interviews take place next year jan-feb, and its only for non-med/law/dentistry courses. Also nus lets u hold their scholarship and apply to other scholarships/universities without penalty as they want students who are really into nus so no worries.

So its an offer to apply for scholarship early or for early application of course? It says in the email that after applying u do not have to submit application during regular period. Is the applicant given priority over the course and scholarship?

      TIA
National average is not 200

200 is the minimum T score to enter Express stream

Yes, I also agree that 200 is not national average.

66% gets into Express stream....so what is the likely national average? Anyone very good at maths can estimate and reason this? haha!

In theory, 50% of the pupils who took the PSLE last year >= 200
So at 66%, the T-score will be < 200. It used to be 188. But with the T-score generally lower by about 5-10 points in 2013 and 204, it is likely to be between 178 and 183 to qualify for Express.
My nephew didnt get into Express with 179 and I know one who got in with 189

yes is per trip thus i get the concession for the small one n for the big one more worth it

It's only worth if you are just taking bus or mrt. If both mrt and bus then is not worth.

From what I know, For poly students if you don’t buy the concession pass, they will pay adult fare.

Hi my son has L1R2B2 12, net is 10. He is interested only in Biomedical science and Biotechnology in Poly. Other than SP and NP, can anyone advice should he also apply TP and NYP? Or should he choose other courses in SP and NP? Thanks.

If his interest is in biomed and biotech, he should pursue his interest cos I believe that's where he'll shine.

Just to share, last year's A*star scholarship recipient, Stephanie Tay, studied Higher Nitec at ITE, went on to Republic Poly where she studied biomed/ biotech. Now she is in NTU pursuing her degree.

There's a write-up about Stephanie here, if you would like to read more.

Comparing RP to NYP and TP , is RP better for biomed/biotech? I have some reservations abt RP. It seems like they are accepting all the other poly rejects as their COP is more than 16.

The overall T scores are lower than last year across all the schools in Singapore. I do not think the principal should be questioned about the results. The school results are based on the cohort and the cohort is different every year.

As for transferred students, it has always been around the same number transferred each year. So that does not explain the lesser number of students with 3A*. There are students with 2A*2A and the T-score is above 250.

So in short, there could be more students with scores above 250 but do not have 3A*.

Also, the average mean score of 220 this year is already an improvement from last year which was 216.6 (as shown in slides during PSLE release last year). The percentage going to express stream has also increased from 79% to 84%.

According to my friend ; Red sawstika achieved 100% to Express . their school put in a lot of effort in building the children to self learning and also set exam according to the school level and PSLE standard. they never lower the exam standard but encourage and teach the children to face the challenges.

Hi just curious 100% to express, does it include those taking foundation?
