thanks merlion, do you know if all the 3rd lang subjects conducted at the bishan centre are scheduled on the same weekday(eg jap on monday)? hence the cohort of girls can take bus together..
hello, by default, everyone in the sch has 3rd lang on monday, hence majority of students have third lang on monday. but due to some cca schedule clashes, some people change their classes to tuesday/thursday classes

Can I check how does MOELC assign the centre if my son manages to get a slot for Japanese class?
Is the centre assigned closer to home or sec school?

What time does the lesson starts?
hello, MOELC assigns the center according to the location of the school. Schools in the north and east go to the Bishan center, schools in South and west go to Newton. Lessons start from either 3.30 (to 6.45) or 3.15 (to 6.30)

Any idea if we can selective purchase for Japanese books? or is a must to purchase whole sets as recommended in the booklist? Worry my girl decide to drop the language after few lesson and it will be a waste to buy whole set. If can selective purchase what Japanese books should i buy first? Thank you

Hi there, I think to play safe, you can get the yellow textbook (book 1) and the hiragana and katakana workbooks. those will be used for the first 2 months. for activity book 1, you can consider buying at a later date. reading and listening comprehension books aren’t really used in class, they’re mostly for home based learning. hope this helps! 😄

      Hi,

Dd going to SNGS in 2019. Will need to report to school tomorrow. Beside wearing her primary sch uniform and bring report card and cert along, anyone can share any extra information for tomorrrow event?

      Thanks much..
You can refer to SNGSS' sch website for more details on tmr. It should be under the 'announcements' section

Is sngs really strict about the attire the students wear? Like must the spectacles be fully black in colour? And are the students allowed to wear sports shoes as part of the attire? Or the students must wear two separate pairs of shoes on days they have PE? I am really curious about this as some schs allow their students to wear sports shoes on a daily basis even when the students do not have PE on those days. Thanks in advance!

There are no rules about the spectacles worn. As for sports shoes, the students have to wear school shoes (white shoes) for PE. Sports shoes are allowed on Fridays only (regardless of whether they have PE lessons)

Can I ask, can the child drop out of the 3rd language at anytime? Or must wait till end of sec 1?

I believe the child can drop out after each term

Since St Nicholas is one of the top school and it is the nearest SAP school to where we are staying, we are considering to put St Nicholas as 1st choice. However, what stopping me is the religious concern.

      a) As it is a Catholic school, do the students of non-Catholic or non-Christian background being encouraged to join the prayer ?

      b) what is the % of non-Catholic or non-Christian (free-thinkers/ Buddhist) in the school ?

Can any students, parents and/or teachers of St Nicholas clear my doubt on this ? Thanks in advance.
The girls have prayers in the morning and afternoon but they’re not forced to join in. They can just choose to remain silent throughout the prayer. As for the percentage I’m not sure but I believe it is quite a large percentage.
