First, I need to make this clear to you that I am not making a comparison between these two schools. I am only commenting on true facts about HCI. In fact, I did say time and again that both are great schools. Don't you agree that life is much happier if people learn not to compare?
Next, I did not say credentials and prestige are unimportant. I said they are not everything.
My nephew made his own call as to which school he wanted to go to. No one in his own right, including you, should tell him where to go.
It is kind of shallow and meaningless to be continuing this ridiculous discussion with lee_yl in this thread and I shall end it here.
Remember, do not compare. You will be at peace with yourself more.

RE: RI or HCI
There, you see...people who go to the most prestigious school are not necessarily the smartest...haha

Even my brother who is an old Rafflesian and my sister, who used to teach in RI, told my DS and nephew to follow their hearts when choosing their dream schools. Credentials and prestige is not everything. A school that brings out the best in you is what truly matters. -
RE: RI or HCI
Hey, you know what? Many of us realised that the things we want to do in life doesn’t require us to go to a top prestigious school! Thank God!

RE: RI or HCI
Let’s not talk about which school is more prestigious than the other. It’s not a competition. Both are great schools. To each it’s own.
I bet most of the uncles and aunties on the streets have not even studied in these schools to know enough about their true credentials and prestige. What they know is from mere hearsay.
There are many variables to consider when choosing a school. Schools with better prestige may not necessarily translate to having a more fulfilling education journey and life. Everyone has his/her own agenda and goals. Just do what works best for you. -

ReVue, thank you so much for your feedback and advice. It's great to have such helpful seniors like you.Hi pdh & zhenghuaparent
Assuming a normal sch day:
It is advisable to be @CCK Bus interchange by 6:10am, seats will be available if board at interchange. Yes, it is crowded during peak hrs.
The ride from CCK interchange to RV is approx. 35mins.
Apologies from my earlier post that it takes 25mins as I start my commute from home which is 10mins further from interchange, paiseh!
Diff students report to sch at diff time due to CCA/other commitments.
Please try out & plan your journey accordingly

Pdh. Wow distinction for HMT. Impressive. Think the cop will be around that score this yr. So he still have a chance. All the best.
Thanks, Parokh.
We're just hoping RVHS's cop will not go up by 5 points.
Like what you said, cop if hovering at 253 or below is good news for us. Keeping our fingers crossed...haha. :xedfingers: -

\"Do try out this route first as it can be rather \"long-winded\" during certain hours as the bus travels to Home Team Academy, Tengah Airbase and SCDF (???) before reaching RV side gate (just before Boon Lay Interchange/MRT).
Hi starlight1968sg
No leh.
I commute via 172 every morning & its a smooth, straight forward ride to RV.
At times, 20mins we would reach its side gate.
I guess you need to plan your journey well.
My six-pence thoughts

Hi ReVue
Do you board bus 172 right from the CCK interchange? By what time do you usually board the bus and what's the latest time you need to be in the queue for 172 without being late for school? Kindly advise. Thank you. -

That probably means top 10% for this year is 252. Only top 10% will be offered french, jap, german or Spanish as 3rd language. In view of that those who have scored as high as 250/251 may not get into the ip.
My sentiments exactly. IP schools will have their cut-off ending at or around the score of the top 10% of cohort.Mr Bean:
Does anyone know the lowest T-Score that qualifies for the 3rd language (ie. top 10%) this year ?
DS got 251+2, not offered 3rd language. DD's classmate got 252+2, offered 3rd language
DS has 250+3. He is trying for RVHS. So do you think there's a possibilty that he can get in with 253, thanks to his 3 extras for HMT? -
RE: RI or HCI
It depends on which school is a better fit for your child’s personality and learning styles. The school culture does play an important part.
Everyone already knows that both RI and HCI provide very well-defined and holistic education, both academic and in leadership. Both schools have done sterling jobs in grooming and nurturing students to scholastic excellence and win national and international awards. Their academic credentials are undeniable.
So what sets them apart? I reckon it’s the culture of the school.
Yes, please don’t brand these schools as ‘angmoh’ or ‘cheena’. Sir Stamford Raffles certainly won’t be amused to be called ‘angmoh’ or Qin Shi Huang be termed as ‘cheena’.
I’ll comment on HCI as nephew is studying in this school. HCI places good emphasis on the Chinese culture and its values due to the school’s history and heritage. It is a pioneering school in bicultural studies and research. If your child has an aptitude for the Chinese language and is willing to embrace the challenges in the learning of the language with interest and passion, HCI is a good choice. At least you know by the time your son graduates, his bilingualism and biculturalism have been well taken care of. This advantage will easily set them apart from others when they become bicultural entrepreneurial leaders. HCI also has an excellent humanities programme. I have known of students transferring from RI to HCI just for its humanities programme.
At the end of the day, what we parents want to see, no matter which school they go to, is all-round excellence in our children. We want to see that these schools have prepared our sons and daughters to be good people, people grounded in values and be future servant leaders with humility and compassion. -

My worry too. At first thought DS confirmed can get into his dream school but now it's 50/50 chance if cop up by 4-5 pts.... :gloomy:
Does this mean all the sch s cop will be raised ?gardenia64:
Moe said EESIS this year is 262, last year is 258. From
Last year COP of each school will be raised up to 4 points, I think. This means this year paper is difficult.
