      Hi

Can I find out if students need to go back to school on Saturdays?

      thank you

Other than some CCAs such as the uniform groups and extra practices for performing arts CCAs during SYF and concerts season, Maths Olympiad enrichment lessons are also held on Saturdays.

Oh, thank you. So it's not so advisable to schedule anything on Saturday morning esp.
      :thankyou:

And probably will just move on to her affiliated school :xedfingers:

      Good enough.

It doesn't mean if she doesn't get a place through DSA that she won't be able to with her PSLE results. My daughter did and is enjoying the school experience.

Thank you. So your daugther is enjoying the school experience there? That's great!

I bumped into my girl's teacher in school during recess just now, and asked her. She told me it was quite odd that my girl was left out. She said, sports on the other hand, is tougher as we are not at national level. There is another classmate who seemed to have chance also did not hear anything. So urged by her, I decided to call.

Good news! Not all have been notified yet, may still get called for interview as probably already shown competency in that domain. :rahrah:

Petegrin, why don't you give RGS a call and ask them if all invitations have been sent out? There is only that much info one can gather from KSP and sometimes there are inaccuracies and plenty of speculations. My DD applied to both Nanyang and RGS and thus far my observations are that it's not always obvious why a certain student is chosen or invited to attend an interview earlier. It is an extremely competitive process and frankly only the schools have that birds eye view. All the best for your DD, I'm sure there's a good school waiting for her.

I believe if it's meant to be yours, it will be yours. We will not need to seek any verifications.
The Lord will show us the way that is meant to be.

And probably will just move on to her affiliated school :xedfingers:

May I ask so is it true that all selected candidates by RGS have been notified?

I guess we weren't \"lucky\", which makes me not trust the selection process anymore.
My child is consistently top 3 standard in a reasonable good school every year.
She has obtained SMOPS, NMOZ, RI Maths awards.
She has represented school in various competitions in academic and sports.
while school mates who had no maths awards, not even top 3 in class, no equivalent competition awards, are being selected to take the Maths test this coming Saturday at RGS.

My only explanation is it was not her day when she did the GAT test.
which makes me wonder is it all the primary years of reasonably good results was not good enough compared to the GAT.

I have no qualms about selected school mates who have excelled similarly like my child.

I guess the Lord was being kind to us to tell us early that this DSA is never fair, and to focus on other tasks instead.

Parents who are preparing for DSA 2016, remember to just train your kids in GAT šŸ˜‚

      hi pixiedust,

I tried baking again yesterday. This time is pretty successful! The bread is no longer dense and the entire middle is soft. i think putting the salt in a corner made the difference ...

      Thank you so much :boogie:

      petegrin, nice looking bread !

I am no shifu and I am not using z-machine but I tried various combinations over the years, here's my 2cents worth :

      1) You used \"saf-instant\" dry baker's yeast ? If you are not using timer function, it doesn't matter but if you are using timer - put the yeast in a different corner from the salt as salt inhibts rising.

      2) You need to mix the yeast with some water to see bubbles - this is only necessary if you want to test if your yeast is still \"alive\".

      3) For your bread, since you added cocoa and rasins, and you mentioned the bottom is dense - I suspect it is the weight of the loaf + the cycle you selected. This one needs some help from the z-machine experts. When did you add the cocoa and rasins to the bread pan ? I'll suggest you bake a basic loaf ie. no added cocoa, rasins first and see how is the rise...slowly you will learn the \"behaviour\" of your machine.

yes, i used the \"saf-instant\" yeast. will try and put the salt in a corner the next round. i was following the basic chocolate bread recipe, but used raisins instead of chocolate chips. Will be trying again, following your sugg. Thanx. See if it will be better šŸ˜“

petegrin, ur bread looks yummy šŸ™‚

u shld try test ur yeast with water to see the freshness, put some yeast in the water. if there is bubbles means it's fresh and ok to use, so might not be yeast prob...
then u have to ask the z machine shifus here šŸ™‚
the taste is quite nice, cocoa with raisins šŸ˜„

The yeast I used is the instant kind, as that's what I could only find at NTUC. It's a fresh pack, but I dun seem to see got bubbles leh. But my bread did rise, so it means the yeast is not dead right? Is it the amount to put in should be different from the actual recipe?
