For ACSJ, the school allowed the balloted-out kid to be on wait list (59 for 58 places, <1km) last year.
And the kid was given a place before start of P1 (due to withdrawal before start of school).
Stay hopeful even if you are not successful in the ballot.
Good luck !

这个才叫一针见血!
I take it then that you do not believe the Minister when he said that all schools are good schools? So who should go to those schools if even those who live literally next door don't want to?rains:
The same goes for her primary school. Our nearest schools were the kind of schools that parents on kiasuparents forum would never thought of sending their own kids to and would do everything to avoid their kids going.
So I get abit upset when people advocate distance priority. When I live in a neighbourhood with schools that none of you would choose for your kids while you live in an estate with schools that parents fight tooth and nail to get their kids in, it's easy for you to say that distance rules.
It seems from every admission exercise that there are primary schools that parents would avoid like the plague. And sometimes these are in the same neighbourhood as very popular schools. Is there something seriously wrong with those schools that MOE needs to address? If that is the case, it is a problem that needs more urgent fixes than tinkling about with the admission system.
I am not so concerned about schools in the Bukit Timah area. I am more curious about why schools like Montford seem to be perpetually undersubscribed while other schools in the neighbourhood like Hougang Primary and Xinming have to ballot within 1km. I am not even talking about the nearby Rosyth. -

Strongly agreed!
Just put those staying in rented property (those within 1 km to school) under the 1-2 km category (just like sd).limlim:
However, you can bring out the issue of rentals. That should be looked into to prevent pple from cheating or abusing it.
Those using rental address should NOT own a property. -

:thankyou:
Come back with this argument again when P2A, P2B and P2C are shared 33.3%, 33.3% and 33.3%.
Fair?
