      @malka

Fencing isnt the niche in SJIJ… its just that they are one of the pri sch that offers it. My 2 cents worth to u is to put your son in a school now in 2CS… then subsequently, put him on waitlist on SJIJ but emphasize his fencing thing. good if u can "proof" how good he is in fencing so the sch can see the potential of him "bringing glory to the school"…

the only "benefit" i can see is that he can join the school fencing team… but that said, Fencing isnt open to p1 as a CCA… only from p3. I asked… haha… For p1 in SJIJ only have track and field and swimming as CCA…

anyone knows what is the exact numbers of St Andrew's balloting for 2C 1-2km last yr? I called the school but they were not very helpful. Say got balloting (i also know la!).. But i wanna know how many ppl ballot for how many places ma.. if 20 ppl ballot of 18 spaces then i will try la.. but if 20 ppl ballot for 2 places i will think of other 2C options ma.. haha..

      TIA

If I recall it was something like 25 or 27 balloting for 20 seats
But please don't quote me. About a handful of 7-15 couldn't get in.
The sch is willing to advice the exact numbers on the day of registrations of those more than 2km. So can call n ask before u decide.

Thanks.. hmm so actually if i need a 2C to fall upon the chances are looking ok for 1-2km. taking into consideration the additional 20. That would help the 1km ppl so hopefully it plays to my advantage. But lets just hope we get into SJIJ then no need to headache 2C

      ASTER:
      A question to ponder.....

The current madness regarding every year P1 Registration - is it cause by:

      1. Parents

      or

      2. The system i.e. MOE phases 1 to 3

      or

      3. Both

IMHO i think we parents cause it ourselves.....
Everyone jumping into the kiasu bandwangon.......I come from a very good school ACS - too bad i got no sons....Cannot study only O Level but still earn approx 80K a year. No degree still can survive. So does your child enter a good school sure study well meh, still figuring out this good school mentality. To be honest i hate my rich and stuckup classmates, really spolit brats and no manners they are bad influence as well. My conclusion is end of the day - the parents support, care, concern, actively engage your children in conversation, play with them, monitor and supervise their homework, teach them to be street smart....better than throwing them into a good school, tuition centers, enrichment classes but leave no time for them at all......Study very smart but no character at all..Of course i dont deny good schools is important.....Did you guys ever see a school Principal eat Macdonald breakfast with the students in Class , take Napfa test with students.....it makes me guilty that sometimes as a parents we fail to do so......think about it......
in my honest opinion, every parent who cares enough for their child and their future, would want the best possible sch for their child. Not saying that parents who place their kids in neighbourhood schools are bad. Its just a matter of choice. Your parents obviously wanted the best for you and placed u in ACS. Your success is your own capabilities... but that said, i believe ACS did do something to u (either to proof to rich spoilt brats or you hoping u can excel even though u are not a rich spoilt brat)...

i want to put my son in SJI.. i will not want to put him in xxx Pri.. nothing wrong with xxx, its just i feel SJI is the best fit for him.. Not because its branded, but because

      1. its doesnt focus so much on academics but focus on developing the whole child

      2. a strict rule on no bullying

      3. and angmo-ish environment for my angmo speaking son

      4. we are catholics.

So sometimes, its not just the brand parents are looking for. My son will DIE in Marist.. he will die in Nanyang too.. So even if we had the opportunity, i will not choose those schs just because it can \"give face\" to me when ppl ask me what sch my son is in.

so pls dun judge parents who know their child best and want to give their child the very best. After this p1 reg, their whole lives are up to them.. PSLE, O Levels and beyond. Its not up to me anymore. So since p1 is up to me, i have to fight for the best sch possible for him.

My friend at Rosyth now says theres a Q and some parents were turned away coz they can't proof their Alumni status! :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

      a few months before 2A1 start -
parents have already been notified by the respective Alumni Association(s) in all primary schools - must respond to them, before a certain date line, if they are enrolling their children for Registration, this year.

Then, Alumni team will start to prepare & print out the letters, for 2A1 parents.

On actual day of 2A1 registration itself -
the Alumni person in charge will hand the letter individually, to each parent.
Parents take this letter and submit together with other documents, to the P1 Registration officer. Officer will verify, on the spot.

The fact that got parents in Rosyth can't prove -
means that she did not respond to the Alumni association.
      hence, the hiccup arise.

without this letter of proof, printed out by Rosyth Alumni association -
she cannot enrol her child into the school.

Ahh... i see.. Now my friend zooming home to Bt Panjang from Rosyth to take report book! :stupid:
