• RE: All About International Schools

      Hello all.

Would just like to know how are the admission tests for all 3 local international schools like? I’m hoping that my DD can enter it at grade 11 but selection seems stringent?

      Hi everyone!

      Why is (2/3x-2) - (1/ 2-3x) = (3/3x-2) [Note: They are all fractions]

      Thank you! :?:

      Hi! please help πŸ™‚

In a time trial a cyclist wanted to reach an average of 25km per hour between two towns A and C which are 10km apart. A village, B, is sited exactly halfway between A and C and is reached after a long climb up from A. When the cyclist had climbed up to B she calculated that her average speed so far was only 20km per hour. How fast must she ride on the descent from B to C if she is to attain the overall average speed of 25km per hour?

Hello my friend needs help with these questions.

      3. Steven left Town A and walked towards Town B at a speed of 100m/min. At the same time, Jason and Melvin started from Town B and walked towards Town A at a speed of 80m/min and 75m/min respectively. If Steven met Melvin six minutes after passing Jason, find the distance, in km, between Town A and Town B.

      Thanks!

      Hi everyone! Please help! πŸ™‚

      1) It takes 12 men to make 12 tables in 9 hours. How long will it take for 8 men to make 32 tables?

      12 men makes 12 tables in 9hrs
      1 man makes 1 table in 9hrs.

      therefore
      8 men make 8 tables in 9hr

32 table is 4 times of 8 tables. Since the men cannot be increase, the time will increase 4 times

Therefore 8 men make 32 tables in 36 hours,
2) Which of the two fractions 1993/1994 and 1995/1996 is larger? Explain the reason without making the denominators of the two fractions the same or converting the fractions into decimals.

Each share of 1994 is larger than each share of 1996.. So that means 1995/1996 is larger.
:thankyou:

Hi all! Please help with these questions. Thanks! πŸ™‚

      1) The marked price of a television set is $715. At this price, the shopkeeper can make a profit of 30% on the cost price with each television set sold. If he allows a discount of 10% off the marked price for cash payment, calculate his actual percentage profit.

      2) Start with $20. What is the resulting amount if decrease by 100% and then decrease by a further 100%?

      Solution to Q1:

      130% of cost price = $715
      100% of cost price = 100*$715/130 = $550

Therefore cost price of TV set is $550

      10% of $715 = $71.50
New sale price after 10% discount = $715-$71.50=$643.50

% profit from new sale price = (New sale price - cost price)/cost price*100
      =(643.50-550)/550*100
      =17%

For Question 2, answer will be -$20

      :thankyou:
