Hi:)

Does RGS classify students into ‘best’ or ‘weakest’ classes according to their academic results?
Hi there!

I have just received notification that I have been posted to RGS. Hence, I have to report there next Monday. May I know what I'm going to receive from the school, what do I need or need not buy, do I need to wear my primary school uniform on that day, is the RGS uniform available for sale and other important stuff please? Secondly, if you live in tampines and take a school bus, how much do you need to pay per month? Lastly, how are the girls like in RGS in general?

TIA!

RGS girls Jedi not
Dozing off in class always
Homework rushing out at night late

May the Force be with You....

😆 😆 That's quite an accurate description!!

:congrats: and welcome to RGS btw!! 🙂 Why don't you tell us how you find us after your reporting day? :)
Well, I bet that all the RGS girls there are really nice. 😂 Btw, how much does the entire set of school uniforms and attires cost?

Yup our textbooks can be found at the Popular bookstore near your home with the exception of our MSP/CSP books. The Literature book may or may not be sold at other populars as well, so you might want to get that on the first day of school. ^^

:thankyou: BananaMilk 🙂

Does RGS publish their own textbooks, or do we buy all the textbooks needed from popular? Popular@RGS sells the same things as the common popular bookstore right?

• RE: Better and Fairer Scheduling for PSLE 2013 Oral Exams?

lexis:
my kid is also s1 for both - dont think it's unfair. Perhaps there are some in s2 who think it's unfair since s1 get to go back earlier to prepare for the next day?

Perhaps some also think it's unfair that they take CL first when it's their weaker subject? As with all things, just be well prepared. Sleep early if you are in s1. any last minute chionging is not going to help anyway.

Good luck to your dc! 🙂

:thankyou:

My child is under S1 grouping in this year 2013 PSLE oral exams    which means my poor child will be \"LOCKED IN\" FOR 3 HOURS while the S2 students still having a good sleep. It's really unfair 😢

In many years, MOE has been doing during PSLE oral exams \"LOCKED IN\" students for 3 hours     why kiasu parents no one bring this topic to discuss and find a way to stop MOE for doing these.....anyway it's too late for my poor child

Better and Fairer Scheduling for PSLE Oral Exams?
Submitted by Concerned citizen on July 28, 2012 - 1:50am
Was given a letter to inform us of our son's forthcoming PSLE oral exams on 16 and 17 Aug12. Felt that the scheduling gives rise to unfavourable
conditions for 1 group of students :

Session 1 (S1) students

- Report to school at 7 am

- Once completed, proceed to canteen to wait for dismissal

- Dismiss together at 10.15 am

Session 2 (S2) students

- Report to school at 9.30 am

- Once completed, can be dismissed

Was quite shocked to learn from the form teacher that this has been the practice for many years. And no one has feedback that this does not
ensure that all are tested under the same conditions?

Firstly, S1 students need to get up at 6 am to get ready while S2 students can sleep all the way to 8 or even 8.30 am?

Definitely more energised with more sleep! And better focus!

And then S1 students have to be \"locked in\" for 3 hours instead of being released to go home and prepare for the next day's exam.

The teacher told me that this arrangement is from MOE. Can someone there please look into this to give all students a level playing field? Even if this does not change the forthcoming exam, let it be heard that this arrangement is not fair and hopefully help other children in future.

Sure there can be an arrangement to subject all students to the same conditions, right? Instead of just telling the parents \"someone has to be in

the morning session, right?\". Even the Science syllabus always pose this exam question - \"Why did the teacher said that her experiment was not a fair one?\" Answer - because there is more than 1 variable - a fair experiment should have only 1 known variable - and in this case, the student's ability. There should not be other variables such as different number of hours of sleep and rest that will affect a student's ability.

I shared the same view n think the school should at least make an effort to rotate the child such that they each have an earlier and later session and wonder what is the constrain of doing this way. Dd will have both hers in
the earlier batch .... This morning she went to school before 7am and the school only release them around 11 am, so it's not 3 h but 4 h in total. the reason of keeping the kids was such that the topic tested will not be leak out but second batch already long been there in the school hall, assembled by 9.30am so I just wonder why do the school has to keep the kids for another 1.5 h. Honestly, wonder any kids will be late for 1.5h for such major exam.

I always salute parent that speak up and look forward to a fairer examination process for the future kids taking their PSLE oral.

:celebrate: Lots of positive replies from kind and lovely members here :snuggles: feel much better and today after PSLE CHINESE ORAL EXAMS, feedback from my child of the \"locked in\" did not seem so scary after all :torchme: teacher told them to silent reading themselves or prepare for next day oral exams. I asked him whether he make full use of the \"locked in\" time 3 hours to prepare himself and so my child happily replied \"YES\" and said he fully utilised the \"locked in\" time to Zzzzzz omg :yikes: :scared: :scared:
