      Hi Bebe,

Just sharing that my kids used clavinova since grade 1 and it was good enough for them at that point of time. As the piano has certain weightage it helps and it was fun for the kids to be able to playback the songs that they had played too.

Only when eldest ds reached Grade 5, did I purchased an acoustic piano. It was a little late and wished I had done it sooner. Anyway my point is once your ds has interest in piano, do consider purchasing an acoustic piano.
Hi Bebe, I agree with Heyhoe for the acoustic portion.

Mmm, I'm adult learning piano since end of 13. Did grade 1 using clavinova but zero motivation after grade 1. Perhaps cos my teacher uses upright/grand.

Hence I feel so ... not motivated by the digital sound.
Sold off my digital and got a YUS5 recently.

To all parents being really thoughtful to their kids piano education etc.
Have been reading the threads & lots of helpful point of view as well as piano shopping x worries.
      Your children are so blessed.

My advice is if you can afford an acoustic, go for it.
Hopefully you'd purchase one which can last all the way than to buy 1 & have to change in a few years time - if budget allows.

If the constant thought of whether they are keen or interest might drop off somewhere...
Maybe let your child pay a portion of the piano - at least they paid a bit for it - they will feel that they own it & want to take care of it properly or love it more etc.
