Hi Victorian, a question please, if I may. I saw in the website that Sec3 boys in VS have to take Physics, Chem and Biology. Is there a choice for any combination of 2 science subjects? I saw that they have it in some other schools. My son tends to incline towards the sciences, still, I am not too sure if he can handle all 3..... :?

RE: PSLE 2009 RESULTS!!
[quote="kathysg2009"]Congratulations to you and your son for good performance. This is a good "problem" to have.
A friend’s son goes to VS - he is quite happy there. VS is a good school. Based on your son’s PSLE performance, there is a high chance that he will be offered admission into IP program if he continues to do well in Sec 1 & 2.
When it comes to deciding school, I find that our children are too young (12/13) to understand implication of deciding school by themselves. And yet as parent, we can provide them pointers but must let them make final choice or else it can backfire.
You shouldn’t be hesitant about IP at all. Your son is bright - so there is no reason why he will not do well in ‘A’ level unless of course he slacks once he gets into secondary school which does happen to some students.
It is important for your son to keep up the good work for next 10 years (6 years of secondary + JC and 4 years of University) so that he can build on the good foundation he already has.
Hi Kathysg2009, thank you so much for the encouragement and advice. Now I can go ahead and help him make his school choices. I feel as you do but perhaps needed to hear it from someone else, this being my first experience with a PSLE child. Thank you again. -
RE: PSLE 2009 RESULTS!!
James Ang:
Imagine if your child goes to NJC in sec 1, someone ask, which school did your child go to, answer will be \"NJC\", then the person will be impressed, 'Wah sec 1 go to top JC already ah, mix with the other top JC student peers.\" Isn't this a pretty picture of a proud parent? Be imaginative.

I don't know if there is sec 1 IP for VJC yet (I think VJ wanted to start a small IP class with VS's agreement after high level nego), otherwise even better, sec 1 in VJC, lagi best!
Also the boys won't need to wear shorts, but wear long pants in Sec 1, looking smart in VJC uniform.
I don't think there is the IP for sec 1 in VJC yet, but yes long pants for sec 1s are cool! Thank you James. -
RE: PSLE 2009 RESULTS!!
Hi! Need advice, please. I would consider my son an average student, marks fluctuating high and low during his first 5 years. He had always wanted to go to VS and he worked hard this year to follow his dream. He scored 263 - something which I sincerely never expected. My ‘problem’ now is, should I not try for other good schs too? He’s adamant about his choice, and do not want any other. Would I be short-changing him? Personally, VS is convenient as it’s close to our place and I want him to be happy and be not too stressed in his school life. But at the same time, I do not wish for him to be deprived of opportunities. I am hesitant about IP schools, as what if he does not do well in his A levels?
Does anyone has children in VS who can fill me in with the school environment? Thank you so much in advance. -

RE: clearing text book and assessment book
Hi Everyone,
NTUC will collect school text books to be given to the needy from 9 - 30 November 2009. You can send to any of their outlets.
Its a shame to throw away books when we can help others who will need them.

Yes, best wishes and good luck to all P6s. May you all succeed and pass with flying colours! I can't wait for Tuesday - I'll probably spend the day in bed!
