They will see the whole cohort's average. IF it is high, the A* requirement will be raised. IF it is low, the A* requirement will be lowered.

AND the aggregate score is not 3/4 X T-marks/400. It is how many percent the paper counts. For the past few years, MT has always been the highest percentage.

There is no bias on any subject. Equal weighting 😄

Not about bias, its about the difficulty of the subject. MT papers are usually harder so perhaps out of 100%, it weighs 35%.(NOT SURE about the percentage but my MT and form teacher said that YES, MT weighs the MOST). NOT VERY SURE THOUGH.
my ds says the maths paper was super easy....easier than all the maths exams she has taken since p5

is MOE lowering the PSLE stds?

Easy coz PSLE set by MOE. Other p5 & p6 papers set by school.

Schools have been setting killer papers so that their students score better for PSLE. Coz u have to be better than most to get higher T score.

Also, they dun want to repeat PSLE 2009 where kids broke down & cried.

Compared to killer school papers, most schools will find PSLE easier. Two days in a row I've heard DD's schoolmates commenting that PSLE is easier than school paper

Hope more parents realise this and not get too upset when a kid does badly for SCHOOL exams.

Whether PSLE papers are easier or tougher depends whether the child's school set easy or tough exam papers. Since most kids find them easy, they will probably get 10-20 points more than their prelim result.
Well Madam, accuracy is also very important. If you got the answer yet wrote down the wrong answer, 1 mark is deducted. And, PSLE's percentage for each paper is totally different from SCHOOL's percentage. Your child/children may get the same marks or even lower( MT usually the highest percentage). :xedfingers:

You can get an explanation how the T-score is calculated.

      Yup! Something like that.

Actually found the Math paper 2 to be quite difficult. Some of the questions are tricky and the kids didn't notice the 'trap' and fell into them, thus losing marks. Paper 1 is manageable though...just hope they didn't make careless mistakes.

It is actually not difficult when you have sufficient exposure. The 'traps' are to differentiate better pupils from the \"average\" ones.

Here is the other qn. thanks. http://i45.tinypic.com/280uu8h.jpg\">

The first answer is 3, while the second answer is 2. READ the question CAREFULLY!! It says, \" After 3 days,.....\" Thus the decrease in mass must be big. So, it is E and H.

I think that since both English and Maths paper are easy, the coming papers might be difficult. 😢 😢 😢

Any of you have any opinions to this prediction???e.g. Which subject would be more difficult :scratchhead: :scratchhead: :scratchhead:
My teacher thinks that Science will be harder as she said that the last 2 years' papers were easy.

      Mum of 3:

My DD says she doesn't know how to do part (b) of the coin question in Paper 2. Does anyone know what the question is and how many marks?

I think it is 4 marks if not wrong. I done it by Guess and Check. I got 117 for 50 cent coins.Bcos the boy has $133.90-$26(mother gave) -> $107.90

      (117X0.5)+(247X0.2) -> $107.90
      117+247 you get 364 coins(182X2)
because there are 182 days and 2 coins everyday

actually, there is no need to use Guess And Check. You are actually supposed to use supposition: suppose both the number of 20cent and 50cent coins are the same.
      182 x 0.5 + 182 x 0.2 = 127.4
      127.4 - 107.90 = 19.5
      0.5 - 0.2 = 0.3
      19.5/0.3 = 65
      182 - 65 = 117

      Day 2 Chinese Oral :

Picture shows Sunville Old Folks' home. A group of children are putting up a performance for the old folks. A boy is playing the guitar, 2 girls standing near him. Another boy giving drinks to an old man in wheel chair.

      Conversation :谈一谈你曾经有过的教训。
There is also a girl bringing an old lady to a chair(I think), a boy sitting on a wheelchair pretending he is disabled and laughing, a boy using handphone and a girl wiping the window glass

      Conversation should be 谈一谈你经过一件事得到的教训。

Doing the papers is 1 thing, whether the teacher has time to go through all is another thing... dd has been complaining about her teacher has not gone through a lot of papers the class submitted!

As a student taking PSLE this year, i think that your parents can remind your brother the fact that what school he is going will affect his future. Also, he can play 24/7 after PSLE,so why not study hard and not worry about the score?
