Gingerbread2:Doesn't mean higher cut off point means the school is better but parents like to believe that. So everyone goes for the school with higher cut off point, making it popular, creating a higher cut off point. Vicious cycle.Hi,
Does it mean that the higher the cut off point for the secondary school, the better is the school? Thanks in advance.
Any one has any interesting Science or English magazines to recommend for Sec 1 ? Believe they should have outgrown from young scientists and discovery box.

Agree! No choice.
the kids do NOT have a choice...much as I pity them for having to work so hard in primary/secondary school, I have to harden myself but offer a listening earzbear:
Both my children are very stressed with the school education. DS tells me everyday that he doesn't want to go to school - he cant stand the competition n pressure.
I told him to hang in there - we are living in SINGAPORE, we don't have a choice.
the syllabus is so difficult now and tuition is a necessity to pass those crazy exams. -

Response to article \"Hwa Chong alumni launch online petition against relationship workshop\"

Furthermore, the student seems to imply that gender stereotypes was all that was covered in the 4 hours we spent “They spent their four hours with us discussing things such as what a girl ‘really means’ when she says something else, as opposed to guys who are ‘direct’ and ‘always mean what they say’…However the portion on gender stereotypes(titled “unravel”) was only 1 out of 4 topics covered and the 3 other topics covered(titled “unique”, “unite” and “underline”) addressed many other issues such as the importance of drawing boundaries in a relationship and how it is not just about finding the ‘right’ one but rather also about preparing and being the ‘right’ one. These are wise words of advice I will certainly hold dear should I enter into a relationship in the future.
I love it when witnesses start contradicting each other.
But so how? It was already determined that the facilitators were \"ineffective\". So Oblivion.
Are you still an effective team?

This Tessa Ho is from Jurong JC. Not even the same JC as Agatha. How could she have attended the same session? :?

Firstly, you must question Ms Agatha Tan why she wrote an open letter to the P for the entire world to see. Probe your thoughts then you will find your own answer to the above question. Ah I see now....perhaps pirate has led you to think that way.... haha... I did not get the impression that Tessa was from the same JC as Agatha when I read her response to the workshop.
If Agatha didn't write an open letter, the whole thing would have been swept under the carpet, as usual. If you read Tessa's Facebook, she specifically insisted that she attended the SAME session as Agatha. Either she doesn't understand the meaning of the same or she's just looking for her 5 minutes of fame. -

RE: Secondary School Selection 2013
JulianLuvsGreen:
RGPS isn't affiliated to RGS. Thus, everyone need to get 259 and above to go in. PS Not everyone can get above 259 :3
NYGH's COP for non-affiliation is 261, even higher than RGS. If they can't get into RGS, they can't get into NYGH so that can't be the reason. Maybe they want to improve their Chinese?hmsg:
I was at NYGH today. Out of 420 admitted pupils, there are 75 from Nanyang Primary School. Another 30+ from Raffles Girls Primary School. These two schools are really impressive. My daughter is the only one from her primary school.
Wow... Surprising those fr RGPS didn't opt to go RGS...

mummy OnABudget:
just to share some schs will know by fri appeal results anyway yesterday went ds posted sch and realize more den half the class are all appealing out and the t score for the class range from 190-244 there are students from scgs cedar and rgs surprisingly all sent there and most of the parents stay near holland LOL wonder what moe is doing
none of those schools are primary schools so don't understand what you're saying. -
RE: Compare RGS vs NYGH
I think in most top schools, the students are expected to be independent learners. The teachers don’t really teach! Same for the top boys schools. So your child needs to be resourceful and do her own studying. I have friends daughters in both. Many feedback but this is the common one. Maybe NYGH helps a little more but you need to be strong in Chinese, otherwise it will affect your grades.

RE: Maris Stella High vs Chung Cheng High Yishun
The advantage of Maris Stella is all boys school. But academic I think CCH is better because Maris Stella takes in many boys with affiliation from primary school. But most important is which one your son is more comfortable in.
