      MMM:
For parents with kids in JC1, what are your observations so far?

To begin with, this is our 1st child so we don't have prior experience but I recalled my nieces used to study very hard in JC that sometimes they were late/ cannot make it for family gathering. My dd is getting busier with CCAs and other activities (eg. more late night outings due to CCA/ class bonding, etc...) but probably not as bad on the studies front? I thought her sec 4 days were alot busier with lots of homework vs JC1. Is this common or is this the calm before the storm? Maybe we had expected things to be alot more hectic on the academic front? Or they are living up to their motto of study hard and play hard?

She shared with us her econs and bio class test results which seems ok so far. She did comment that it varies widely in her class. From bad pass to almost full marks.
I was wondering why this thread was so quiet as I didn't realise that the moderator has separated VJC from VS thread.
DS has been very busy with his CCA as he is taking 2 and his workload is also getting heavier now.
You commented that test results 'vary widely' in your DD's class. For the same subject, my DS results vary widely too for quizzes. :gloomy:
Hope he will study full force for the mid-year common tests.

Thank you ilovelaska for all the information!

My DS is so excited about reporting to VJ tomorrow as some friends who have gotten 6 net have been accepted as well. It’s going to be a great reunion!

I believe a Victorian made a very public declaration of admiration to a Cedarian in the auditorium in front of the entire IP cohort recently : )
The Victorians are a really playful bunch!

Agree. In fact the victorians are mostly a 'play hard & study hard' bunch, not the nerdy muggers type. Hopefully they will continue to be united in vjc and not being selfish and KS so that they can exchange and gain more knowledge from one another.

For the IPs, they hv orientation, camp, visits to NUS/NTU/Fusion polis, Project V, sports trials, subject shopping, planning for parents’ night etc. Opportunity to get to know the VS boys better.
The IPs bought the uniforms a few weeks ago. JAEs can buy on reporting day.
Combined IP-JAE Orientation usu will be week after reporting. Opportunity to get to know boys other than those from VS better : )
All the CCAs are waiting for the JAEs to come in. But I do know some JAEs with 2,3,4 points hv started sports training. There will be uni visits for the JAEs too.
Wow! That's a lot of meaningful activities that the JAEs have missed 😢
I wonder how the school identified those pupils for early sports training unless they have applied through dsa, no?

😂 :imcool: Actually I like girls who are confident, assertive and sporty which I think Cedar has that culture, rather than girls who are too gentle, pampered and sensitive.

DS tuition student always tells him that he is looking forward to meeting cedar girls, as well as to Tanjong Katong girls hehe
      😂
Mine said :dowan: to cedar girls as he finds them too aggressive during sports meet. I heard that TKGS girls are more musically inclined :romance:
Just joking! JC curriculum is too packed for romance. Just go for the As!! 😉

Since this thread is also for VJC, may I know what the IP students have been doing while waiting for the JAE students to report to the JC?

When will everyone start purchasing the uniform? Will it be incorporated into the orientation program?

Mostly on team bonding activities. Actual lessons to commence when O level students join in and start lessons in Feb.

Thanks for reply. It must be fun for the vs boys to bond with the cedar girls after 4 years of single-gender schs for both. 😂
