Hey, student here 😄

Compo topics were pretty fine.
命题 - 经过别人的协助,你达到了目标
完成文章-学校的活动刚结束,你回到家,发现你有很多新电邮,全部都是同一个人写的……
Something like that.

Paper was okay.
You forgot the \"我whatever地打开一个来看\" or something. 😄

• RE: Q&A - PSLE Science

I agree with VAL82. However, please correct me if I am wrong.

Copper is not a magnetic material, so therefore, magnetic force is able to pass through it. A is therefore correct.
The magnets were attracted towards the copper sheet, which is also towards each other. As unlike poles attract and like poles repel, the unlike poles have to be facing each other. Also, if noted, the question states that after the magnets were released, which means that the original position of the magnets was shown in the diagram, and when released, one of the magnets swiveled around to face the copper sheet which its north pole. D is thus correct.
So, the answer would be (2).

Robertpattinsonidle:
this question seriously mind boggling.

Both shops ABC and XYZ , offered a 15% discount for the same type of mattress. If Mr Muthu were to buy from shop XYZ ,he would have paid $38.25 less than the discounted price in shop ABC. a) What was the discounted price in the shop ABC ?
b) the original price of the mattress in Shop ABC was $1510. what was the minimum percentage discount it must offer so that the discounted price in shop ABC would be lower than the discounted price in Shop XYZ? Give your answer correct to the nearest percent.
@Robertpattisonidle
Can you please check your question, if part a is correct? As it is, your part a can have multiple answers, and part b indicates the original price of the mattress in shop ABC, which can be used to find the discounted price too. :scratchhead:

a) Difference: $38.25 (with discount)
With discount: $38.25 is 85 % of the difference, so $38.25/85*100=$45

b)Shop XYZ: $1510-$45=$1465
Discounted price in shop XYZ: $1465/100*85=$1245.25
Difference: $1510-$1245.20=$264.80
Minimum percentage: $264.80/$1510*100%=18%

Note: Answer is certified correct. 😉

paranoid:
The figure below is made up of Squares EFGH and PQRS, a circle and two identical semicircles. J and K are the midpoints of PQ and RQ respectively.

P, Q, R, and S are the midpoints of EF, FG, GH and EH respectively.

Use the calculator value of pi to find the total area of the shaded parts, correct to 2 decimal places.

Thanks in advance.
Please note that you did not indicate the dimensions of the figure.
However, the steps to find out the answer are as follows.
http://i45.tinypic.com/awykh1.png\">
Therefore, the working is:
(Big square-small square/8)+(Circle-small square/4) 😉

I was thinking about that point too, but you can't be sure that it rearranges into a exact half-rugby. So that was probably not the solution. 😉

for this question, tianzhu interpretation is correct. If the \"mid-point thickness\" of the \"leaf\" is equal to half radius, the 3 outer circles will not be touching each other, using trigo/pythgoras theorem.

cheers.

And I got the solution. Thanks for pointing out mistake. 😄 😄

If the perimeter of each isosceles triangle is 34, then each side must be 11 one-third, so y would then be 11 one third times 4, which is then 45 one-third. Explain? :scratchhead:

for isosceles triangle, only 2 sides are of same length ie the base (in this case = y/4) is not of the same length of the other 2 sides.

cheers.

Oh yeah, thanks. :clubmyself: :clubmyself: :booboo:

Question from NHPS Prelim 2012

Hi

I’ve not much time for slide now.

Try to rearrange the shaded part.

Area of shaded part ------- Area of quadrant (r28) – area of triangle (1/2*28*28)

Best wishes

Hmm Tianzhu, how can it be proven that the shaded part A can be re-arranged to form a half-rugby like you mentioned? Someone else provided a different answer.
I was thinking about that point too, but you can't be sure that it rearranges into a exact half-rugby. So that was probably not the solution. 😉

1)which one of the following statements Best describes a characteristic of living things?
1.living things cannot survive in the absent air.

Living things may have the ability to give birth to young ones.alive
Living things move from place to place in search of food.
Living things can live in the presence of large amount of water.

2.two ice cubes were stacked and a pushing force exerted from the top. After one minute , both ice cubes could be lifted off the surface by just
Holding the top of ice cube.

The process that resulted in the ice cubes 'sticking'together is/are ...........
1.melting
2.freezing
3.melting and freezing
4.evaporation and freezing

Q1) 1
Animals and plants cannot live in the absence of air, so Option 1 is correct. Option 2 only applies to mammals, not all living things. Option 3 only applies to animals, which can move from place of place by themselves. Lastly, Option 4 only applies to aquatic animals and plants. Therefore, answer is 1 as it best describes living things.
Q2) 3
The ice cubes melted, turning into liquid state, then due to it losing heat to the ice cubes, it froze again, joining the two ice cubes together. So answer is 3.

But they said that living things MAY have the ability, not have the ability right? Please clear my doubt.
Well, I'm not a science teacher, so you should check with your teacher.
The question states, \"Best describes\". Only a particular group of living things, mammals, and maybe some other animals, have the ability to give birth to their young alive. However, all, if not most, of the living things need AIR to survive. So Option 1 would be a better answer.
