RE: St. Margaret's Secondary
Hi Kittycat01, SMSSโ niche is in gym so there will be opportunities for yr dd if she does well to go for competitions. Yes, will be strenuous though I see how my dd developed grit and determination because of her participation in sports school team in primary school. Maybe gd to find out if she will automatically get into RG if she doesnt get her first choice. The best approach is if she doesnโt mind RG, put that as 1st choice. Better than stuck with 3rd choice she does not like.
Luckily, my dd is enjoying her cca Netball very much. She keeps complementing how nice and caring seniors are. Ours is Appeal case, no need to choose cca. Generally, the girls are so supportive of each other, I think yr dd will grow to love the posted cca because of the friendships she will build there. -

RE: St. Margaret's Secondary
DD confirmed tests are on.
thanks kittycat01
I like regular tests to keep the girls on their toes and assess ttheir progress. -
RE: Dad's who are actively involved
My hubby occasionally bakes with my dd ....
cos I can't and not interested. He does a lot of the PTMs in primary school as I have very long and sometimes irregular work hrs. And since I have been maidless for almost 2 yes, he does the simple breakfast daily.
With DS, hubby is the clown, phone games and TV buddy. They both like science so DS likes to talkabout what he reads in Young scientist. And yes, DS likes to whine about the housework and home rules I set)
I am the disciplinarian, master project planner (marketing on weekends, which tuition centre etc). I am also the judge when they have disagreements, the caregiver when they are sick or need someone to talk to and movie buddy.

kittycat01:
Hi, I was there as hubby couldn't make it. my dd appealed so CCA already fixed and norelax mum:
Hi, does anyone know if the girls are encouraged to take up 2 CCAs? How does the CCA points work? If my girl does ballet or other activities like swimming or piano privately, will these be considered for points? TIA.
HI relax mum...no sure if your dh or you were there just now. So happy to hear that activity outside sch by external organisation can be considered for award of points pending the sch's approval. which cca is your dd taking up in sch and outside sch? dd is taking dance class outside ..... hope its programme can be approved...will have to check with the dance sch :xedfingers:
and we must consider cca carefully coz if u change halfway, cca points will be affected as cannot reach level 4.
need to select. While I heard about the points for CCA, seems unclear how the compute the various levels. My dd takes ballet outside but this yr too late to join the class. What CCA is yr dd planning to choose? -
RE: St. Margaret's Secondary
I decided to go for the PTM today and had a chance to speak with Mdm Carol Soh tho she is not my DDโs FT. She seems really nice. I also see the Sec 1 girls are all pretty happy. Kids at that age have lots of opinions and already have opinions about the teachers! Based on my DDโs chats, the teachers who have a sense of humour seem to click much better with the girls.
The values and focus resonate with me. I am very happy my dd is there. My ddโs experience is that the older girls are very supportive and inclusive. This is very commendable. -
