Finally the school included B+ and C+ into the grading system this year. Good news to the students as it will help in their GPA.

This is very informative. DSA thru UG only requires one to 'serve the bond' for 4 years. That's a fairly good deal compared to other academic and sports domains. Hmmm...
Commitment is 4 years for all domains. -

Last Thur-Sat, we had the most intense sharing from the schools. Despite the fact that there is no open house, the school admin, principal and teachers are all so kind to talk to us. We are all so grateful and send in our appreciation to MOE indicating the schools. Some schools even assign students to share with us their thoughts about their school and how the school and environment enrich them. Some schools are very forward to tell you that the students must win medals for school if DSA through sports (note not strive to be better but must win). But there is some schools don't, as they believe in holistic environment and so will not pressure kids to die die must win medals.
I would tell those school who said must win medals for them that in return, they must make sure my child ace in exams
. Jokes asides, once a child successfully DSA to the school and fulfil his obligation to commit to the cca, there is nothing the school can do to him even he does not win medals.

I think it is safe. Can choose to walk along the more brightly lit main road. Many of them walk and in groups. Take about 10 min and many will go to Mac or KFC to chill.yap_susan:
My son is studying at DHS. He walks from Mountbatten to school. Cut through those HDB blocks. Faster than 158.
After 5.30 pm evening, after Cca end: is it still safe for girls, to cut across DHS to Mountbatten MRT, via HDB blocks ? -
RE: Dunman High School (Junior High)
Currently nearest is Mountbatten. Katong Park station will open in 2023, very near DHS. One and only bus 158 outside the school.

Wow, I think if practised sports are not available in desired schools can't DSA too.
MOE website will list which schools offer which domains. It should not change drastically over the years. Having said that, i think the child's interest is most important. Should not choose the domain just to aim for the desired school. -

Having been through sports DSA for my 2 boys, i can say that the criteria mentioned for sports are not important. Almost all who applied will be given a chance for the trials and the coach will be able to tell who are those with years of serious training and those not. I came to this conclusion because both my boys pri sch does not have a competitive badminton team and not in the top tier (top
Usually, specific to the sport, they need zone & national top4, top 8 placing.
Alternatively, they may request for placings in Nationally-sanctioned competitions (so if your kid's school is not ranked in team sports but your child has individual talent in that sport, she can still apply).
individually so no results to show but were given the chance to go for trials. There were also handful of beginners there trying their luck. If the child does not have serious training background, i think no need to try. So the key question is whetger the child has genuine serious training background or not.

Ok. I am more curious roughly how many applicants are shortlisted for trials/auditions/tests for each domain and the number actually get accepted (this is hard to know especially for non-sports).Surely you realize that was tongue in cheek. Like saying that 100m sprint takes less than 20 seconds. :imanangel:
If can play like this, dun even need 2 minutes. Sure get CO.

PS. For your entertainment only whorr. Dun take so seriously. No 12 year old can play like this.
Most DSA auditions require 2 contrasting pieces or movements. Should not take more than 10 minutes. Actually not many 12 year old can play more than 10 minutes for 2 pieces.
For badminton, popular schools such as VS and DHS about 30 went for trials and accepted about 4. . RI also accepted about 4. HCI zero (they were more stringent on academics).
For sports, we know through friends and team mates as well as during inter-school competition. -

Music audition needs only less than 10 minutes.

Roughly how many applicants per music audition?
For popular sports like badminton in popular schools, about 30. That adds up to the total trial time. -

Music audition needs only less than 10 minutes.

That's nice.
The two hours I mentioned include reporting, briefing and waiting. Actual trial is much shorter but not as short as 10min.
