RE: English Assessment Books
For my daughter who did her PSLE last year I used 1) Mastering Cloze EPH, 2) Editing, Punctuation, synthesis and Transformation and 3) English Grammar and Vocab worksheets by Kit Lee and Lynette. The grammar notes in Mastering cloze were useful such as tables on prepositions used after certain verbs. All these are published by EPH.

Hi for P5 and P6, I would not recommend an all in 1 book. Some writers from various publishers have come up with good books on certain sections of the Exam paper. For lower primary I think EPH has some good guide books that include practice papers as well.

I would go for the Editing, Punctuation and Synthesis and Transformation P6 book by EPH. The notes for Synthesis and Transformation are useful and the questions are quite challenging.

Hi LBetter,
Yes reading good compo samples can be included in the reading list. It can be a little boring after a while, so let them read their favourite stories as well. -

Hi Everyone, someone mentioned a book regarding Synthesis and Transformation. Has anyone bought a P5 or P6 guidebook (EPH) called ‘Editing, Punctuation and Synthesis and Transformation’ for your child? If so, can I know how you or your child would grade the difficulty level of the book?
