My daughter was Sec 3 in 2015 and she did very badly for her end of year exams in E and A maths even though she had home tuition. (E maths 52 and A maths 40) In 2016 I send her to Apt tuition centre in Upper Serangoon because my colleague recommended me. She said her son improved alot after going to that tuition centre. So I cancel the 1 on 1 home tuition and enroll her E math, A math and Chemistry.

Even though the location was not very convenient but because of the recommendation I decided to give it a try. Also when I called them, the teacher I spoke to was very helpful. The centre even have a policy that if my daughter didn't improve they will refund the tuition fees. I never heard of any other centre that is so confident that they can offer this. My daughter liked the teachers there and found the lessons very helpful.

This year 2017 when she got back her result, she got A2 for E maths and chemistry, B3 for A maths. It was a really good improvement. She and I were very happy with the results and she got into her first choice course in Temasak Poly. I highly recommend any parent to try out with Apt tuition. Although the price is not the cheapest, it is worth the money. Plus they offer the refund if there is no improvement which I think tells alot about the quality of the teaching and there is no harm trying. I have already recommended the tuition centre to a few friends and their children are in the centre and have given good reviews about it. You can google and find their website. The teacher's name is Gabriel

What is Apt tuition? i googling but couldnt find it :?

    • RE: Express or Normal Academic

      Hai…Im newbie here…

May daughter just received her PSLE score 2018… and she got express one.

However her total score is not enough to enter her dream school for express.
the choices for express is not as many as the choices of NA score.

I told her rather than choose all so so express school…why not giving 2 choices for good school and go for NA?
is that possible if I choose her dream sec school and got the NA one?

      Thanks

my daughter also weak in CL..very weak.. .next year she weill go for sec 1..can we choose other MT besides chineese. she doesnt want chineese any longer and wanna go for malay..

shes afraid her CL score for psle may drag down the combined score

anyone has idea ..can she choose other MT besides CL for sec1?

      Thank you

I don’t think she can switch like that unless her BC indicates double-barreled race.

If she is Chinese race, must study CL, unless got medical reason for exemption. That is what I know.

my second daughter took CL at first - shes now at P3..however in the middle of P3 even her CL tr gives up ...and we wrote a letter (fill the form) to MOE asking for changing to Malay and it is been approved. her sister at P6 really struggling for CL however she cant change since shes at P6 ( isaw how struggling she was. and her CL may drag down her psle score  ) she told me she wants to change to Malay for sec 1 but dont know whether MOE agree or not coz her psle MT is CL...

do you think MOE will agree?
      :thankyou:

But if she never learn Malay before in primary school, won't it be difficult for her to learn Malay in Secondary school, unless she is baba, speak Malay at home too ?

we dont speak malay at home actually but since we are from indonesia - I thinl malay and Indonesia languanges are quite the same ... perhaps. even we have chineese race but we dont speak chineese ...this CL is so so difficult for her

    • RE: Is PSLE really needed in Singapore?

i think psle is okay is important to know how our kids undesrtand the what they have been taught from P1 to P6 … however as a parent I dont force my daughter to have high score coz it may stressing the kids. i dont expect my daughter to go for top 20 sec sch as well…as for my understanding going to top 20 sec sch may only take all her time just study study study and normally at that school competition is very high. however at neighborhood sch…she still can develop her skills- her talent…not just study study study for scoring at sch
