i treat it as exercise for Oral which is today and tomorrow. I told him well done! good experience and hope you had fun.
today is back to the grind of prelims revision although i cut him slack yesterday.

i am also checking on emails. hoping to get an email from SST round 2. LOL!

For us, DSA is stressful as his talents are mostly his interests and his achievements are mediocre.

But if I were to go through this again, I will still apply via DSA. My son wants to further his interests in his secondary school curriculum, to me that is good.
Depending on the domain you are targeting, some domains require less preparation. The thing that is new to the child is interviewing.

The exposure and experience in DSAing is priceless.

For our case, it is my son's first job interview and they are learning practical skills to present themselves and articulate it well. I prepped him for his DSA interview, through this bittersweet exercise, I realized that on a soft skills part, he is very raw. A lot to work on and that's the more important part of education. Whether or not he gets offered, I think we have both gained in this exercise.

Of coz, I pray that he gets a CO.
It will definitely take the pressure off PSLE raw score. He finished his interview yesterday and was happy. I think he has learned and gained something intangible.

Has anyone gotten SST round 2 invitation for 13 Aug? So far the parents who shared are for 6 Aug. Wondering if all the round 2 invitations are out or they are sending by batches.

I think the issue is we only have total applicants / total spots. We don't have applicants and spots per each domain.

Here are some more stats. Quite frankly, they are all kind of useless but I'll type them anyways .

2021 IP Applications: 12,874 (41% of Total Applications).
-->Number of Unique Applicants:
-1 application per applicant = 12,847 applicants
-2 applications per applicant = 6,437 applicants
-3 applications per applicant = 4,291 applicants
*Overall applications per applicant is 2.6 (IP + Non-IP)

Assuming 1,233 IP spots (1/3 of 3,700), the success rate for the corresponding assumed applicants above is 10%, 19%, or 29%.

Truth is, as of now the odds have already shifted based on the shortlisting process. Based on different domains and number of kids shortlisted, I think the odds for some domains within a school could still be < 10% (i.e. 10+ shortlisted per available space) or as high as 30%-40%. It all depends on how many the school shortlisted and how many they are likely looking to take in (+/-). And more importantly, it still comes down to the individual applicant.

Anyways, if the child is still in the game then they still have a shot. My suggestion is don't worry about the odds too much. There's nothing we can do to change them and as mentioned my view is that the average odds are not really applicable to most. Good luck to all! :rahrah: :rahrah:

With VS, only the Visual Arts (VA) domain. I know that VS has sent out e-mails for a variety of domains but haven't heard a thing for the VA domain as yet
