DH tried to explain to DD2 that the yellow/black marking on the side road is not the usual white/black marking, so it is not Zebra crossing.

DD2 said " Ya i know, it is bee crossing…"

if you need service apartment - we like to stay at Mantra on Little Bourke. There are some parking lots outside the building. If you park late evening, it is free and just leave before 7am. An hr parking cost AUD $4 after 7am.

It is situated on a quiet street but if you walk just 10mins, it is shopping area, Chinatown/Chinese Supermarket is a little further but walkable within 15min. This service apartment has 2 queen beds, living room area and a full kitchen.

We also stayed at Crown Metropol for a little bit of glam. Check hotel deals on its own website. They can be quite generous with upgrades when it is not a crowded period. It comes with 2 queen beds.

    • RE: In-law problems?

My SIL didnt talk to her MIL for more than 20 yrs. Drama to rival any Taiwan Series due to her husband’s 4 troublemaker sisters.

When MIL fell sick and had to wear diaper, it was my SIL who cleaned her up everyday 3X as the maid had taken 3 weeks off. MIL’s own daughters didnt even offer to help. Everyday MIL shed tears when my SIL bath her. After 20 years, they were finally at peace with each other.

      Thanks Dnls_mum !

It is likely we will stay off site for 3-4 days and get over the jetlag before moving to a Disney hotel for 10-12 days. The FREE dining plan is up till Sept 2013. Basically with dining plan, the room is non-discounted !

In any case, I am still reading this topic and noting down important tips from everyone.

      Thanks again!

    • RE: How to keep a marriage strong?

When I got married, my dad gave me 3 advices:

      1) no matter how successful you are at work, you must be a kitten at home
      2) do not nag your husband
      3) be respectful (give him face) to your husband in front of his family.

I think my dad talked from his own experiences with my mum. :rotflmao:

      Hello Dnls_mum,

thanks for sharing about your trip!

My trip will be late Nov 2014. I like to book my flight and hotel by March 2014. But I am still confused on the dining plan. I think it is only worth it unless we get it free when book with hotel/park ticket package.

But seem like the free dining plan is only for UK resident. Do I wait for the deal that may apply to non-UK & non-USA residents? When do you suggest we book the package? As you mentioned before (you have so many tips!!!), we can book the package first and then add the free dining plans later??

      TIA.

hi all, i have just flow back from taiwan

      2. if u r going sun moon lake, pls not be tricked by the locals or yr tour guide to charter the whole yacht for TWN2500, quite ex considering each adult costs only about TWN 200-300 (free for children below 6yrs) for the normal yacht. and the trip was actually quite short. They will drive u to an island to buy ah-po cha ye dan (herbal egg) and to visit a small temple, that's all : >

ok folks, enjoy yrself in taiwan, quite a nice place i must say.
LOL - I paid NT3500 to charter my yacht! Obviously my driver wasnt entirely honest the whole trip but I guess thats how they earn. :slapshead:

For those who have visited sun moon lake and taroko, which one is worth visiting?? as i can only afford the time to visit either one attraction.

Does it have train service or buses to get to flying cow ranch from Taipei or tao yuan and take how long to reach the ranch?
      Hi hi,

I would go for Taroko Gorge. There is so much to see at Taroko Gorge. I did 2 days trails with our driver.

You may like to consider staying at \"Crossing the Rainbow Bridge Bed and Breakfast\" http://www.teyra.com.tw/ This minsu is about 2km from Taroko Visitor Centre. Nice rooms, decent breakfast and a pair of friendly couple. It is only 20 mins drive from Hualien.

      For Flying Cow Ranch,
Check for train timing - http://twtraffic.tra.gov.tw/twrail/
Train from Taipei Main Station to Miaoli Tongxiao Station takes 2 - 2.5 hrs. Then take a cab from outside Tongxiao station to Flying cow ranch. approx 20 min NT$300

I read somewhere before - Flying Cow Ranch do have pick up service in Taipei. It will cost a bit more but for the convenience, maybe you can check with Flying Cow Ranch directly.

For Taiwan, if you have kids, I think it is best to arrange a driver. A little bit expensive but overall you will get to go to more places along the way.

      regards!

Hello, this is the first time accessing this thread as we suddenly thought of going mount buller this August on Chan BRother's package.

I wanted to consult all of you:

      1. How is your experience with Mt Buller? I read on tripadvisor that it is quite ex.
      2. if it is not snowing, will there be snow on the ground? sorry if i sound stupid.
      3. can we try snow mobile and sled? we have a 5 year old kid, dont think we will try ski.

      Thanks!!!
      Hi.

Usually by 3rd week of June, Mt Buller will be snowing. You can call them to check. When I went in 2011 June 2nd wk, the whole place was covered with snow.

We stayed 4D3N in an apartment. We only managed to play sled during the trip as our kids were not keen to take ski course.

If you only plan to take 1 day tour to Mt Buller, honestly there isnt time to do much.

      regards!

    • RE: Shichida Right Brain Training - Discussion

It is pretty normal for kids to walk around.

DD2 enjoyed her class very much but after more than 1 yr, when we had a new teacher at a new term, she refused to attend the class and we simply just let her sit OUTSIDE the class until the class ended. We paid a term money for NOTHING.
