crescent has been in band one for five years already,so why isnt it a hot choice???? i mean schools like mgs and scgs and cedar dont exactly get band one

i am a newbie here, but please do note that CEDAR is the only school that NEVER EVER missed BAND 1 in the ranking of School with O level students,,, SINCE it started in 2003 (i think), almost all other Schools like Victoria School, St. Nick, and even MSG missed at least 1 time (drop to 2 or 3) of course... the girls school did better than then Boys schools... VS is the better one already i think 5 years consecutive already... i think... SJI just attained band1 only Recently and only 1 time only (at most twice), and Catholic High fluctuates also btw 1,2,3 bands

    • RE: [Bukit Timah] Primary Schools

Congratulations! I also went through similar experience sitting at the school for the last 2 hours of registration. For 2 days and a half , less applicants than vacancy at mgs. Then in the last 1 hour, parents showed up . Ballot required on 42 applicants and 37 vacancies....

      arsenalsgp:
I like BTPS surroundings nestled in the middle of a landed estate. I was not successful in Phase 2C for a SAP school in the East. Knowing that the other 'better' neighbourhood schools will most likely go into a ballot for Phase 2C Supp, I chose BTPS because of the good review online and offline (through my colleagues).

Yesterday, it was one of the nerve wrecking experience for me. As my home was more than 2km from BTPS, any balloting could spoil my chances of getting in the school (and my nerves as well). I was one of the first to register at 8am. When I left at 8.20am, there were 15 parents (for 75 vacancies). At 3.45pm when I called the school it left only 10 vacancies. I thought to myself, this is going to be close... At 4.45pm after the registration ended, I called again and was greeted with \"No Ballot\". This is truly one of the highlights of my year!!

Looking forward to see my daughter in BTPS next year!

    • RE: [Bukit Timah] Primary Schools

My personal view is that if any school allows one or 2 exceptions by allowing more enrollments than original #, then all schools would get into serious trouble in future yrs as parents would oversubscribe to particular schools with precedent on their side to ask for exceptions again.

Sad, but not much hope from that side I think.

But with such surge in 1km applicants at most of the schools at BT area, it would be great to see more classes opened in coming yrs: strong sign that demand in area is way above supply.

With all new condos around, and more to come, more classes in each school or opening more schools seem the way out.

      My half cent šŸ™‚

So your appeal to the principal did not work ...... not that it matters any more ....[/quote]

MGS ballot just finished. Unfortunately 4 applicants not picked.

I wish them and all others in that same situation that they come across a a very good school for their kids. Wish them peace of mind and assurance that all will work well.

We went through 2 ballots this time(2b and now 2c).
The first one was not successful so we know well what it feels like.

Praise the Lord for giving grace to my daughter today. She was picked in the last 6 spots.
