I don’t understand what the purpose of going online is. When I saw the online registration announcement, in my mind I was still thinking. Wow, dont have to run around anymore. Alas, I was too naive. I kinda feel sorry for parents that still have to chiong down to site to get the real time figures. How come 2018 already still cant just click a website and see the figures for under1km/1-2/above2km. Its a really poor use of technology. Worse still, the school admins paid by taxpayers, acting so high and mighty and not revealing numbers. Where’s the transparency in that? Very jialat.

Hello parents! anyone has insight on ACS (J) and ACS(P) this year? based on last night's number, both still have vacancies, surprisingly, wondering if SC > 2km for both schools stands a chance? thanks!!
if you really interested, just walk in to see at around 2PM. If the chance is there, just grab it. If not stick to the initial plan you had. -

Wow, I know roughly where she stays cause I was in this same exact position few years back before I moved. The problem with this area is that it really has very little options for kids but its a good spot for people that work at CBD.Hi all;
Need advice, asking on behalf of my fren;
She stays near:
1) Sc within 1km blangah rise
2) 1-2km Radin mas, chij kellock, Gan Eng Seng, Zhangde
3) Outside 2km Alexandar
What is the chance for getting ballot chance for Radin Mas? What is next option? How would you choose?
Can try to wait at RMPS and see the numbers. If RMPS under 1KM need ballot (Very likely), go chop Kellock already because even Kellock can have ballot at 1-2KM and in the even Kellock really out-balloted, then go blangah rise. -

I have a better and quicker solution... without expanding or building additional resources.
If they really do this, the rich-poor divide will be greater. What you are suggesting now is, if the family can pay 60mths worth of rent, let them have the place. This also means only the really rich can afford that slot in the school. I can very safely tell you, there are very smart ppl that will always be able to game the system no matter what is done.seriallain85:
some time i really dun understand why MOE is only reserving 20 slot for phrase 2C child.
as this phrase is the true fact that they live so near to the sch, where do MOE come up with such figure to reserve for child in phrase 2c....?
I do understand some parents can in order to let the child go popular sch, they can rent a unit super close and declare it as a pemanentant address, moe can check and elimanate such application that before and after registeration must stay at least 30months.
That is more fairer.
Rather than doing that, I would think abolishing distance requirements, increasing a further 200 places and building accommodating infrastructure for super popular schools would make better sense. In Singapore, distance is becoming less of a concern when it comes to education, especially with the latest mrt infrastructure. There's always a similar story of a lucky student living in tampines that goes all the way to RGPS every morning. Let those that want to go NYPS, go NYPS and those that want to go to a nearby sch, go to their nearby sch.
Just call every school NYPS:
NYPS @ AMK, NYPS @ Bishan, NYPS @ Cairnhill, etc.
Better than all schools are good schools.
It's all schools are same school.
hahahaha ! good idea! that might really work too -

What I don’t understand is say for NYPS, why 35 or more SC parents (all < 1 km) are willing to risk balloting for 20 places in Phase 2C, when if you miss it, that’s it. The options left in 2CS are far removed from your first choice of NYPS and the chance of a future transfer is so small. Under what logic would one still go for balloting with such odds and consequences?
what risk is there? 20/35 is 57% slightly over half will get in. This is supposedly one of the top 3 schools in singapore. From outside already look like hogwarts to me
Any parent would be willing to go \"all in\" to put their kid in there if finances allow (aka pay2win). Suppose if suay suay never get in, there's always bukit timah primary which is very underrated and superior compared to most schools. I personally would still have been very happy if my kid went into bukit timah primary as back up option and looking at the stats, there's 82 slots

RE: 2018 P1 registration exercise for 2019 intake
my guess is this is the first time they are doing the \"computerized balloting\". Maybe they are afraid that there will be a mess up somewhere so they left a bit of buffer time. If really mess up for some reason, they can still secretly roll the ping pong ball at HQ physically
It could be the case that they already finished everything within 24hrs but since they already announce the dates so they can't announce it earlier. -

You are absolutely right. These can be easily rigged because there is no third party witness. To be 100% impartial, rolling the ball still the best even if it more stressful, nobody can argue it was unfair as it is done in front of everyone.Is there any one here working in MOE HQ. Possible to share how is the new balloting at HQ done?
- Is it a press of a button by an IT personnel?
- Who are the witnesses physically around during the balloting process? Principal? Officers?
- Any SOP and auditors around to ensure that the process is fair and just? Or is it \"onself check oneself\".
More clarity should be made available to the public.
Not to mention computer randomization is not truly random but only simulated. Depending on what kind of random simulation they used, my goodness, certain numbers can be more favoured than others especially if they used a system thats based on computer clock. Ie, fixed numbers chosen depending on what time it is. All this info only moe themselves will know. Theres a serious lack of transparency in our system.
