frusparents:I don't think I can help you in this instance as my niece is no longer attending this school. She succeeded in her appeal to Dunman High and is very happy there.Hi ServantofGod
So far any feedback about the school from your niece?
Is she happy with the school/teachers etc?
Like what sparks has previously asked:
- How's their historical o level results?
- teachers - general caring & approachable?
-discipline - are they strict & students well behaved?
- CCA - which ones are their niche?
- strengths or weaknesses of school?
How is it compared to Pierce Sec, St Gabriel's, Beatty etc?

I went to browse through some of the topics and they claim that we should have a very good reason to appeal into the school. What are some examples? Help please!

work hard, play hard.
I dunno about the working hard part, but during my time is was play hard, party harder.
I recall that we always seem to have a celebration for some event every week... both in school and outside. And every weekend is party time.
Me and my classmates always wondered how we managed to keep up with our schoolwork back then. -

I always use Avis when I am in Ozzieland. Been using them for the past 15 years and totally no regrets. I can pick up my car at the airport upon arrival and return them ANYWHERE in the country when I'm done using it, Avis will send their men to pick the car up. It's also the largest car rental company in Ozzieland with over 250 offices all over the country. Their cars are new & well maintained and they give good rates for repeat customers.
Else, any recommendations for a good car company? -

Have you considered going downunder on other dates?
Hi, for first-timers to GC (self-drive), what are the places you will recommend if we are keen to explore beyond the usual theme parks. Not really keen on theme parks but will want to try whale watching, helicopter ride etc. Other than that, the usual seaworld or rides stuff are not very appealing to us.
Also I can't decide if wanna go Paradise Country Farm or Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. We are going farm stay but they will not have koalas and kangaroos. So which of the above is better for Koalas and Kangaroos?
For first timers, is it difficult to drive to Mt Tambourine?
Btw, we are going in June.
Thanks for any advices in advance!
June is cold, wet and prone to floodings.
It can be quite dangerous if you have not driven in wet weather / cold conditioned roads. -
RE: St Andrew Secondary School or Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Sec
I'm a mum:
Hi, may I know which is a better school among the two? Or which is more prestigious in your opinion?
Prestigious? Neither of them are. Both had their beginnings as humble kampung schools. SASS for the poor farm kids of Potong Pasir and KCPSS was a girls school for the residents of Joo Chiat.
As to which is a better school, it is subjective. As an old boy of SASS I might be biased in comparison so I'll leave it to others to comment. -

I find it strange that the 79 year old woman has to do marketing when her son is the CEO of a supermarket :?
Funny right?
Alamak, everyday can deliver the freshest stuff...home delivery. Just have to call and deliver directly like fish, chicken, vege. -

During that time there was no such thing as ranking similar to the present system. I lived in the Kim Keat area and SASS was the nearest school within walking distance from home. Also at that time most of my schoolmates were from the neighborhood. Those that were from outside the area stayed in the hostel...... and SAJC was off Alexandra road opposite BP Tower.hi i'm a mum, I am not sure how many % of the students qualified for JC coz I didn't ask my nephew but I think the % shouldn't be low , its just that which JC the boys went to..
servantofgod, 1981 batch..SASS was popular at that time ya? I remembered at that era, boys schools like ACS, SJI, SASS, VS, CHS very popular...SAJC at that time was at Alexandra Road somewhere opp NOL building?? -

It's alrite. Hope you manage to find something suitable for your family.Hi ServantofGod,
Many thanks for your offer. We are a family of 4. Wow.. your house seems very big. However, we prefer a small unit to rent for our own..
My house was built on land that nobody wanted. I bought it initially intending to start a farm about 25 years ago but plans didn't work out. It was left vacant until about 10 years ago when developers starting building houses on the surrounding land. As rows and rows of houses came up, I decided to have a house built on my land too. It coincided with the mining boom and rental income was especially good so I have never stayed in that house yet as it has been rented out all this while.
