For Q 3)
is the answer (3w-1/2) or (3w-1)/2?

lets assume a scenario:
Two schools: school A and school B, both have two vacants for DSA.
Two students student X and student Y.
X has WL2 for school A and WL1 for school B and put School A first choice.
Y has WL2 for school B and WL1 for school A and put School B first choice.
Which school that students will they going to?
If both school only has one vacancy, which school they going to?
And how the process started? which student will first allocate to school?
:frustrated:

This is how I see it:

X put School A as first choice.
Y put School B as first choice.
They're not competing for the same school.
So assuming only one vacancy in each school left, and X and Y are the next in line for allocation by the MOE computers, X will get School A and Y will get School B bec they put those schools as their first choices. Their 2nd choices won't even kick in bec their first choice schools have vacancies available.

But WL1 has higher priority then WL2. as per info, school should allocate WL1 first.

MummyMoo:
Hi Resilience,

Realised we have similar question on WL.

I looked up Q34 on MOE FAQ, stated that:

>Q34: If two candidates are placed on the school’s Waiting List and both >have indicated the school as their 1st choice, who will be allocated first?

>The candidate who is placed higher in the school’s candidates ranking list
>will be offered the allocation first. It does not matter which choice order >the candidate puts the school in the School Preference Form.

If students A and B both have RI and ASC I on WL.
If A put ACS I as first choice and B put ACS I as second choice. But B is ranked higher than A in ACS I's ranking list, so ACS I will choose B ?
What if B's first choice gets converted from WL to CO as well ?

Just wonder how does the system work for WL processing. What is the algorithm ?
lets assume a scenario:
Two schools: school A and school B, both have two vacants for DSA.
Two students student X and student Y.
X has WL2 for school A and WL1 for school B and put School A first choice.
Y has WL2 for school B and WL1 for school A and put School B first choice.
U r right. It is difficult to enter RI via academic route. My DS is top 20 in SMOPS, top 50 in RIPWMC, two golds in other MOs. Therefore, he shouyld be the 1% in maths. And his science is the 1st of a neighbour school.

But he has been rejected, :rotflmao:
Even being top 5 in RIPMWC, top 10 in SMOPS, various top medals in Maths and Science can get rejected by RI :stupid: DSA route is baffling. Only people I knew who got accepted are GEP,>85%. They cramp hard and study strictly within syallabus. The rest need not apply to RI DSA

Please dont spread the wrong message out. There are parents reading and preparing for DSA next year or even the year after.

DSA is not only based on achievement, therea are also other elements like interview, GAT, HAST.

For Mainstream Academic DSA the child has to sit for test on the domain chosen. I heard it is quite difficult. Perhaps your child had a bad day and could not perform well in it.

Sharing your experience is one thing but Denigrating those who got in is quite another thing.
The fact is: for the Mainstreaners, their chance of DSA to RI is really very slim.
might as well not to waste time for this DSA and focus on PSLE.

My DS is a mainstreamer in the intermingling class, I admit he is not the top notch student in his class, but there are few of them, brilliant and intelligent and excel in every aspect, they are not inferror to their GEP peers. As per info from my DS, their application for DSA to RI via academic domain were all rejected!

I am quite confident those Mainstreaners can enter RI via PSLE.

RI should state clearly how much DSA quota for MS via academic route, to avoid creating thousans of Mainstreamers hopeless dreaming.

For parents who would like to know the number of students attending the selection test at RI (in case you have DS in P6 next year):

Maths domain: around 60 students
English domain: around 10 students
MT domain: around 5 students

Science domain test is held at another building so I can't tell.

Hmmmm - The numbers look on the lower side than I expected - how many seats are offered in RI for DSA overall ? Looks like the kids who got selected for second round have a fair chance to get in :rahrah: .

Do these numbers include the GEP students as well or are they just main streamers? I am sure there are students from other non-academic talents that have gone thro' auditions, etc. But just based on numbers I feel it is a good chance to get into RI. Good luck to those who did their interviews - hope u hear good news soon :imcool:

Those are the main streamers only.
