Hi everyone,

Is it true that the child has a much higher chance of getting into the Secondary school if the coach is teaching at that school?
e.g. the coach teaches at Cath high, my child is under his private coaching and hence stands a very good chance getting in?

It depends on the school and coach. I know of coaches who have been with the schools for decades and have strong influence over which candidates to accept. There are also coaches who are not involved in the DSA selection and the decision is solely made by the teacher in charge.

I have the impression that most schools will ensure fairness in the DSA selection... however, was surprised to hear a parent commenting during application period that her DS and another boy’s applications will be ok as they are taking private lessons with this CCA coach.. Both were shortlisted for interview... one was made a CO and the another on WL. Guess the selection process will depend on the school and if the school involve the coaches on the shortlisting process.

Will there be any orientation for the year 1 boys and parents to CHS?

Last year, my dear friend’s DS was offered CO from SST and WL from NUSH… he ended not accepting both and relied on his tscore… they made the decision after PSLE. The boy did very well with a good tscore and now with HCI.


After the last paper, the kid will have better gauge of their performance as compare to prelims and can make a better decision then… 加油for the last 2 papers!

Hi all, my kid is on wait list also on one of the ip jc.. .. can I ask if the schools called you guys to ask before offering CO ? to gauge if you will accept their wait list , if you will accept them if they offer you ? If so , then the chances of rejection from the CO receipients are Low. Therefore , wait list offer will be low also.

Same here... silence after the interview... however, the interviewers did post the question to the kids. For my friend’s DD, the school did called the parent after the interview as they explained the girl seem not sure if will accept the co during her interview.
