    • RE: All About T-Score

I think what ruler we use to measure. Similar to one parent stated earlier.

Just to share, my ds asked why I told very good :rahrah: to his sis for getting 80 marks in Math and why I told him too low for getting below 90 in Math? { He used to get 95-100, and his sis use to get 60-70} So you can see my ruler is different. 😉

In life, we have too many set of ruler. So... there have no right or wrong answer for what is a good score in PSLE.

Hi Amy, my son shown great improvement in his Compo after attending creative writing lessons for a year. They learned like 10 nice phrases each week and used them to write a compo every week.

His work was selected for the school's young writers publication. I was surprised when I read them. I guessed the lessons helps a great deal. You may like to find out more.

My ds did not do well in both english & chinese compos too. Thinking where to learn compo writing for both, any suggestions ? :boogie:

      Hi,
Please could you also let me know.
My dd is not doing well in both english & chinese.
      Thanks.

      Hi Darlingbabe,

I am not sure how you come out with this idea. If you want to know more on dsa for CCA/ club. You can check from respective school website. You will need to consider whether your kids like & able to do... and also.... will it be the same system when your kids reach P6?.....

when my son at the end of P5, I have been told by some parents that kids need to start train before P1 to get top 3 position when kid reach P6 to go for dsa, etc .... I am like ah :yikes: already too late 🤷 .. but I tell myself that I am lucky to hear it late 😉 ... if it early, I may find something to do ... my son is my first child & clueless ... I dont really know what was dsa untill my son at end of P5 :nailbite: ... all along ... I let my son do what he likes and he had been changing from one sport to another for some reason... mid of P5, he found the sport that he love and he enjoy playing it. I think it make the different. He chose training over computer game, which gave me suprised. Come dsa in P6, he got confirm offer from 3 school that he applied.

What I tried to say is that please guide them along the way and help your kids find the thing that they love to do and it will turn out fine. 🙂 This is just my two cents worth of advise and hope useful.

Yes, what worriedpapa said is right. You need to ensure your targetted school dsa sports coach/teacher knows your kids accomplishments and credentials. But I think, it doesn't mean pull string. If you can pull string then good. If can't, I think still got chance.

My DS dsa through sport last year.

      Dear SHAmum
Can you share which sport and which school your DS dsaed? And can you share with us your experience please? Thank you!

RI : sport trial + GAT test ( before /after sport trial)+ interview

HCI : sport trial + (only short listed student) English, Math, chinese test + interview

ACSI : sport trial + interview (not all student need)

Working parent prepare to take leave as those trial date are mostly on weekday (for last year). If u plan to go for dsa, prepare personal profile earlier including testimonial from teacher to avoid rushing like me (although not that difficult). I decided to go for dsa last min. Other then that ds enjoy going for trial as he got excuse to play more.

Just info, I saw some kid tried for dual sport and went to second round... not sure about final.

    • RE: How is your Sec 1 child coping in his new school?

Hi, thanks to all of you.

It’s really nice feeling that I am not alone. I hv P3 girl and S1 boy. Lessons already started and some subject got test, but I think my son engine is not started yet… he said Math is easy, English lesson is fun, Geo lesson let him sleep as so bored ( teacher nag whole class), he got some fun with science lab. Never see him study or do homework at home more than 20min. I don’t know whether he is ok without studying / revision … or he is still thinking primary school learning style… teacher provide everything…
