I know of a teacher charging $150 per hour, and usually ppl book abt 2hours of his time for masterclasses, so it works out to $300 per lesson. There are those that do on a regular basis prior to their performance to get an "outside" opinion. So there are those that are still willing to pay this much.

RE: Teacher Dreamaurora - Piano Q&A
windows:
Quick qn: do your piano teachers tell the students the background or story of the pieces before asking them to play?
My girl piano teacher does. Although my girl is only 7yo and is definitely clueless abt music background and stuff, she is still able to relate to me like Bach went blind at his later life and so on. Her teacher talks some fun facts abt the piece, the composer and what are the interesting things to look out for that pique her interest.
Though the teacher did mentioned to me that though she tries to explain the story behind the songs, she can only say that much before the kids get bored if she gets too technical. So I guess a little information is better than nothing?? -
RE: All About Violin Classes and Teachers
Hi all,
I’ve been reading this forum on the side but this is my first time registering and posting here. I would like to seek recommendation for a violin teacher for my niece and eventually my daughter when she is older.
The teacher need not necessarily possess master degree or what, but must definitely be able to teach (some people just can’t teach). TBH, my niece used to have lessons with one of a forum poster here whom is a violin teacher but had a very bad experience. I won’t name the teacher but do PM me if you have second thoughts about getting a violin teacher who has advertised themself here. So, if anyone have a good teacher to recommend in the Seng Kang or Hougang area do let me know!
TIA!
