Assuming the number stay low today at 70 vs 142 vacancies and applicants for 2Cs falls within range, there wouldn't be any balloting required right?Based on current numbers (142 vacancies / 68 applicants), there should be a Phase 2CS if nothing dramatic happens today.SharonT\" post_id=\"2033145\" time=\"1628138764\" user_id=\"163109:Dear all,
May I ask if BTPS have a 2Cs phase? I am hoping to keep this as my (really) last option. Assuming they do have vacancies after 2C and thus have a 2Cs phase, would it be a shoo-in for SC kids or high chance of balloting again?
Thanks for your sharing!
Last year, there was ballot for SC > 2km in Phase 2CS. Expect similar this year.

galaxyraider:
Thank you - zac's mum and galaxyraider. I have a bit of time to shop for schools. Will make sure i look around well. :xedfingers:
Another way to go to Phase 2B is by the grass root leader route. For SJIJ, you're relatively safe to get a place in Phase 2C if you live within 1km, so you just need to get a place within the \"golden triangle\".zac's mum:
Yes SJIJ is usually the backup primary school in this area. It is relatively easier to get into.
None of the 3 schools accept PVs for phase 2B purposes btw. You have to be either a Methodist church member (for ACS) or 1 parent has to have a Catholic baptism cert (for SJIJ) to qualify for phase 2B.
If you don't qualify then you have to go under phase 2C, which may require balloting. If balloted out, the popular backup school is Bukit Timah Primary: any distance also can get in at phase 2C(S), but apparently got some relatively good reviews, just ask around.
I second zac's mum's choice, which is ACSJ. -

zac's mum:
Thanks zac's mum. :udawoman: That certainly gives clarity. I looked at the balloting history, and it seemed like there isn't a need for balloting for distance <2km under phase 2B - that's a great relief. Hope it stays that way for the next 5 yrs!
Hi...ACSP is the one which is more difficult to get in. At each of phase 2B and 2C, there are usually just the bare minimum of 20 seats for ACSP. Don't ask me why though...my personal preference is definitely ACSJ haha...maybe the fact that ACSP is a GEP centre makes it seem more atas? The 2 primary school campuses are verrrrrry different, do check both of them out if you have the chance.SharonT:
Hi Parents,
I am new to this... may I ask what is the difference between ACSJ and ACSP? Which is the more difficult to-get-in primary school? And kids from these 2 primary schools are able to go to ACS (Barker), assuming the affiliate cut-off point for PSLE meets the mark?
Of course, I am asking on the basis that things stay on course (with very little critical changes to the Edu system by MOE).
Thanks,

Don't worry too much if it ends up that you get either school, because both ACSP and ACSJ are affiliated to the 2 secondary schools: ACS (Barker) and ACS (Independent). The latter is the much more desirable one I heard - you can tell the academic standards are higher as the cut-off-point for the latter is much higher. ACS (Barker) is a good fall-back school as it has normal stream. Hope that helps shed some light on things.
Do you also know if there is another primary school in the same area? Am thinking, just in case, we couldn't get into ACSJ, what could be my back-up primary school in the same residential area. SJIJ is either in the 1-2km category or >2km, so if competition is equally stiff in the 'back-up school' and balloting required, best to fit in the <1km category for Phase 2B.
And also PV!!!! Does ACSJ need to do PV? I know SJIJ doesn't require that *yay* -
