Okay, so if she does not do A Math and she goes to Poly to do a Science stream, how can she enroll into University after that? I heard that upon completing Poly, students can join 3rd yr into NUS. Is this true? I am speaking about courses like Pharmacy, Biomedical Science, etc.

Add math is important for not just pure sciences or engineering, but also some arts subjects such as economics, which based on calculus. I always advocate students to take add math. Same as my son, who turn sec 3 next year. Initially he opted for the easier D&T. I convinced him to take add math. It is a very important fundamental subject for all students. Without add math, your daughter might be limited to art or business subjects or other less popular courses. Pharma and Biomedical are two highly competitive subjects, which are mostly taken by O Level scorers of expressed students with double math and pure sciences.

No you cannot register as private for the subject, only way is through school registration and learn it privately. Also try to talk to the school to allow your daughter to sit for all school examinations. This is purely by school’s discretion. The exams are important to assess your girl’s competencies. Some department heads are more sympathetic.

My personal view is that add math is not more difficult than e math. The former appears to be more difficult because it requires a better foundation in algebra. In add math, most solutions cannot be solved just by pushing calculator buttons as in e math. Precisely because of this the training of add math is important to help change the student thinking. All math require more practices; students just need to spend time on them. That’s all.

i agree with you that those who bought private property in 2007/2008 may not have break even now.

But if you have holding power, prices of private property in SG will definitely go up in the long run.
if you plot the URA price index from 1970 ~ 2015, it is in a uptrend slope.

once again, it has a pre-condition: you must have holding power for properties.

Just like you I am a stay-at-home mum, and previousIy I did some part-time accounting jobs to supplement my husband’s income.

It turns out that all I need was an internet connection and following the instructions from the coach, I was able actually able to earn about $600 to $800 a month.

It may not be much now, but it is a good enough start and I am still learning and tweaking my websites so I am able to generate more income.

i have a couple friend, DINKs ( Double Income, No Kids)…

when they first married, they bought a resale 5 rm HDB in AMK.

after staying there for few years, they sold off that 5rm HDB 2 years ago and downgraded to a 4 rm HDB, few years later, they fully paid up for the HDB flat.
