RE: All About Full-Time Maids
Hi have this maid for 4years+ and she didn’t have health problems. Recently, she said she can’t see things afar and wish to check up. She is nearing 40 years old. Probably she needs to wear spectacles liao (i think). Can I just bring her to a public hospital eye clinic or must get referral from Polyclinic ?

early this year she wanted to return home in April. Bought her airtickets in Feb and came March, due to the worsening of covid-19 situation, countries closed borders and that is why she is still stuck with me.
It sounds very clear to me it’s an attitude problem. You can train/teach skills but you cannot train attitude. I’m surprised u’ve not sent her back early this year when u got the chanceSHAWNN\" post_id=\"2001332\" time=\"1604549532\" user_id=\"181229:
Anyone have experience to share how to handle a maid that doesn't take instructions ? As my mum is unable to turn her body, I asked the maid to turn for her. She replied ok but I observed she hasn't been turning. Maid has been with us for 3years+. Now also cannot send her home. Her salary is already $700 and just concentrate on taking care of bedridden mum and assisting her to toilets, feeding and medication. Basic cleaning of house once a week. How should I ask her to get the job done ? She doesn't like us to tell her what to do. If I tell her off, I am afraid she will harm my mum.
You might want to consider seriously getting proper help ASAP coz if yr mum is bedridden, she DEFINITELY needs to be turned often. Without proper aeration, she get bedsores & get pneumonia fr infection very soon. My mum passed on coz I was too late in getting early help when she was bedridden & my pino maid then was very argumentative. I sent maid quickly home coz an argumentative helper hard to handle when u’re stress with elderly needs. I was left to put my mum to a nursing home coz I was the only sole breadwinner then. Mum had bedsores & then passed due to pneumonia fr infection which spiral very quickly.
ACT FAST. Hope things work out for you soon. -

Is it after 2 years contract, the maid is no longer considered as the agency `girl' anymore ?
Yes. No need to use maid agency to renew.
Just use yr SingPass on MOM website. I can do it on my hp or laptop so long as hv internet access & renew. Cost is only as per MOM charges. No agency fees -

these maids when they put up pity face, really dont know whether to pity them. I'm in the same dilemma whether to change maid
I've had 3 maids so far...1 Filipino ...1 Indon and current one myanmmar...
The Filipino maid was my first ever maid so we were new at being 'employers'..in general she was ok but also probably cos she had loads of freedom cos we are not home the whole day...my son was in infant care...so she helped us picked him ( i booked grab for her to shuttle him home) cos worried for my son's safety....so her main task was cooking and housework which she did quite ok -not great always had to keep repeating things and she was always trying to beat the system...basically do just enough not to get 'scolded...
She worked 9 mths and during 'Christmas' came up with one elaborate drama series story to go home...said her mum had stroke etc...( i saw on fb she was going to restaurants to celebrate Christmas)...then msg me again in Jan after her 1 mth holiday to say she's ready to return to work with me if im ok ( i was like ??? her skin so thick???)
I went maidless for awhile but really couldnt cope as I do not have parents/ in laws help...and sometimes my husband works long hours
2nd helper Indonesian....this one was the most problematic...always gave the poor thing face wanna cry kind of face...broke things and dare not tell us till we found out ourselves....also stole $$...tried many times to borrow $$ as well...and she always had this scary vibe u dont know what she's gonna do to you....this one also worked 9 mths....then finally kicked up a ruckus and said cos i kept nagging at her i should send her back..( she packed her bags on the same day)....
The current one from Myanmmar still ok in terms of character etc....but really very stubborn always always have to keep reminding her about things and cannot meet expectations of:
-Coming back on time on her off days
-Getting up on time / not making so much noise when she gets up ( with her loud alarm clock etc)
-can sleep like a log/ in the afternoon even with the condo intercom she can sleep through even though me and my husband are calling her everyone 2-3 mins....( so far already 3 times these incidences)
-Will always yak loudly on her hp when i pass it to her....not discretion abt considerate use to other members of the household despite repeatedly telling her...
-Feels like she behaves like a tenant instead
-but everytime u tell her off she will apologise and say sorry etc...attitude wise she's ok but isn't there a limit to how many times u can apologise rte? ( makes it feel like its not sincere)....
-I think its 'familiarity' breeds contempt...she also doesnt know how to practise discretion and act like she has a huge say on household matters....like we went shopping once she actually told my husband the shirt he picked out for my boy is not nice....or when i discuss about sending my son for music class she will say to send him for drum class....argh...i guess thats the down side of having a helper they are there 24/7 in your face ....
- Im in a dilemma whether to change??
Sighss

i wonder how they picked up cantonese language since language is something we have to speak and practice often.
my former Indonesian maids picked up Cantonese very fast...hubby and I had no freedom of speech. -
RE: All About Life Without Maids
anyone experienced sending your maids stuffs eg. clothings back to her home country before ?
you bring the stuffs to courier company and pack there or they can send boxes for you to pack, once boxes are ready, you call their men to collect from your home ?
