      Hi all,

Is there something happening with this portal in the last few days. It just seems so hard to navigate and different from a week ago.

Secondly has anyone received anything from Victoria for leadership? The wait is tough and it would be so much easier to move on with things if we know.

      Thanks all.

      Hi,

Am I right that the DSA application doesn’t require us to upload anything. Just type information. No Certificates, documentary proof etc??

      Thanks

That's what the school is looking for, individuals who have an interest and passion in math and science.
If your child has no olympiad/math science competition related results /certs to include in the portfolio, do not worry either. If he is interested in NUSH, just go ahead an apply. It is a myth that NUSH only takes in geppers or olympiad medalist. So just apply, see how he fares at the selection test(s).

My child was from a neighbourhood school, we did not send him for any competitions or olympiads, and his cca was a sport 😅. He had nothing to upload for his portfolio, so we uploaded all his edusave awards just to upload something rather than nothing. With nothing much to show portfolio wise, he only had the selection tests to go for, I'm not sure how the school identifies the students during their selection process but in the end he received COs from both NUSH and SST.

      Hope this information helps.

All the best to your son in his DSA applications and for his PSLE as well.[/quote]

      ● Applicants should be role models who have demonstrated excellent leadership skills and potential through their experiences in key leadership positions in primary school (Executive Committee member in the Prefectorial Board or equivalent, CCA leader etc) OR have led projects that have impacted the community.

      ● Applicants should indicate non-school-based achievements in their online application in MOE’s DSA portal

All shortlisted applicants will attend an interview.

Schools will assess the student’s overall ability to cope with their academic and non-academic programmes using various sources of information, such as primary school results and interviews.

Many students' weakest subject is Mother Tongue so it will not be a big factor if he does well in the other 3 subjects. Encourage him to improve his results.

      All the best.

      Hi all!

I would like some advice on the DSA application.

For DSA leadership IP track, does any one know what is the process for TJC? How closely do they look at the child’s P5 results before short listing them for interview.

Mother tongue is my son’s weak point and that affects the total AL score.

      Thanks 🙏

    • RE: All About Math Olympiad Training & Questions

      Hi all,

I’m a newbie to Olympiad math. Need some advice.

My son will be taking part in the Mathlympics this year. He’s in p4. Pls help me get some perspective with the following:

      1. What are some good classes in the east to prepare him for this?

      2. Does participation in Olympiad competitions really help with DSA admissions or school math work?

      Thanks 🙏

      Hi,

      I see your point.

      Thanks for sharing.

These math tuition centres specialize in conducting math classes.

As compared to TLL which is well regarded but is a multi-disciplinary tuition centre offering tuition for all subjects.

      Hi.

Thanks for the list. I’m surprised Learning Lab is not in it. Am I outdated? My child doesn’t go for my classes. He’s in P4 now, doing ok but i’d like to stretch his math ability. please share if it is wise to consider learning lab. I’m in the east and most of these centres you mentioned in the list are in north I believe. Any suggestions for the east side?

      Thanks

This is off- tangent - but the Edusave certs are out! Check your mailbox
Thanks for notifying! Something to lift my son up as well.

I realise there is no mention about the award ceremony for acad merit award (students who are top 25% but not eligible for merit bursary award). The letter only mentions merit bursary award application.

Past 2 years my son has been getting the academic merit award. That’s still ongoing right?

      Thanks 🙏
