RE: Pat's Schoolhouse
Hi, my girl is in Pat’s Ridgewood since 19 mth old and she’s turning 5 this yr.
Yes. Recently there was high turnover for staffs. However, this centre remains unchanged although some good teachers left. Pat’s is good overall as it has evolved and improved its academic and learning experiences for the kids. I was also initially sceptical about ‘learning through play’ concept and thought my kid may not be able to catch up with the outside world. I am pleasantly surprised at her learning pace and am pleased to share with you that its curriculum is rather comprehensive. This school has certainly nurture her into a brave to speak person as well.
At the end of the day, it also depends on its own centre’s principal and teachers.
While the school u choose is important, self teaching at home is also important to make up a personality and behaviour of a kid. -
RE: Pat's Schoolhouse
Hi,
Just to add on and share.
My girl is with Pat’s Ridgewood since 19-mth old and has been very adaptable there. She is 4 this year, going K1 next yr. Teachers there are extremely professional and can handle the kids pretty well. To conclude, she just loves going to school!
I don’t quite agree that some people feel Pat’s is not being very academic in one way. I do admit that I am also one of those parents who freaks out at my little one’s learning curve and does pulse check on her academically. So i definitely also has arranged enrichment classes on her languages out of her school’s curriculums. The only one curriculum which I have not been touching on as yet is Math. Pat’s has this math curriculum called the i-math taught during the class in Mandarin. So in terms of being academically in line, they are. However, not academically advanced.
It depends on one’s expectation in terms of academic. More than often, being academically advanced, a kid will be expected to attend enrichments outside the school curriculum. Hence, at preschool level, being academically in line is suffice in my opinion. Importantly, when we want our kids to attend a school everyday, we also want them to largely learn from being interactively able, as well as independently able. That is more important than anything else.
