No I am not from harris, the staff informed me, as they knew I was there and close when it all happened.

RE: Travel: Indonesia - Batam/Bintan
I agree I did think moving him around was possibly not the right thing to do either but I understand holding him upside down was to try to make him sick. He apparently had a belly full of food which is what made this tragedy happen so fast.
They were locals to Batam .
It has also left a very chilling impression in my mind also I can still see his little face so clearly.
May he rest in peace. -

I was also at Harris Batam with my family at the time of that terrible tragedy and I do not agree with your view of events.
Firstly there are no lifeguards on duty which is clearly written in about 3 places around the pool, secondly I think the staff responded as quickly as they could and yes they did perform CPR and Mouth to Mouth but unfortunately their efforts went without a positive result.
Sadly the little boy who was only 10 years of age passed away that night.
I felt the panic and the pain of everyone who was at the pool at that time, and to be honest I do feel the staff did what they could, they were all very upset by what happened and hours after and the next day everyone of the staff who were present at this tragedy but more so the main pool person who performed CPR could not stop crying when anyone asked him what had happened.
It was a tragic event that I will never forget having a 5 year old little boy myself it has opened my eyes to my mantra of never ever taking your eyes of your children in a pool no matter how strong a swimmer they may be. The father of this little boy took his concentration away for no more then 2 mins he said and his New Years day has ended in a life changing event that I am sure he may never recover from.
A long response I know but I feel passionate about giving a different view of the tragedy. This was my second trip to Harris at Batam and we will definitely be returning again, the staff are wonderful the resort if full of smiles and heart.
Rest in peace little boy, you are forever in my prayers.
