    • RE: All About Luggage

      jacsplace:
I got a Samsonite soft-case luggage free from Citibank in 1996. It's still going strong -- has never given me any problems.

Wah really? That's a good deal. I got the green one recently from Citibank also. But not samsonite. Haven't tried it yet. I assumed it would be lousy since its free but maybe I will be lucky like u! It's small, so good for the kids.

I have never really invested in any good luggage, just basic ones from mustafa etc to do the job for a few trips. This thread helps, now i can check out some better options without breaking the bank

    • RE: Hotel Booking Websites

If u can find out, there are different comparison websites that do better in different markets. So if you are already travelling in a certain region, there might be one there that's better.

If u are booking from Singapore, there are the usual suspects for reading reviews, and wego for comparing room rates and booking. They search a lot of sites and direct u so u arent technically booking with them, but u get the best rates including direct hotels and agents etc. They have localised travel sites so u can use those when u are travelling outside of singapore to see the most popular ones for that area. For example http://www.wego.com.my/hotels for malaysia hotels and http://www.wego.com.au/hotels for australia etc. etc.

They search other searchers so its handy but still a good idea to read reviews elsewhere before deciding if cost is not your only concern.

This is a very cute topic šŸ™‚ I think it makes for interesting parenting and very interesting kids when u teach them things like this.

Is it better to teach them through DSLR of just a simple small digital camera (Sony etc) ??

It depends on what scope the interest is at...But my take is always to begin with Composition, its no point going into technical details

Agree completely. Don't aim for the sky right away. Just give them something they can be comfortable with and learn framing. No need to stress them out like a proper training. They need to learn to enjoy it and improve, not learn it like their life depended on it.

    • RE: Travel: New Zealand

Ah so jealous! NZ was one of my best trips ever. It really is breathtaking. Fairly easy to get around NZ and if you missed anything, its easy to buy it out there. Weatherproof clothing is very important, as are your shoes. For the most part track shoes are fine but if u can get hiking shoes or tramping shoes, they are worth spending on. Also note that not all hotels are very well insulated so it can get cold. Bring layers that are comfortable enough for sleep.

Franz Josef is amazing. Not sure how u will manage kids there tho?

If your kids are Lord of the Rings fans or Chronicles of Narnia fans, there are several filming locations in NZ that they can visit. Hobbiton in Matamata is on a sheep farm also so u can have two in one there. My girl friend was really excited about those places when she was there. But I’m not sure the sets are still open because they are filming more movies. She wrote about it actually. Let me see if i can remember the link.

But NZ is really really amazing. Enjoy yourself!

    • RE: Travel: Singapore - Universal Studio

USS is high on the list for us too but unfortunately havent brought the kids there yet. Just wondering if maybe it is better to go to one of the bigger (better?) ones abroad first?

Minions ride sounds awesome. The kids will go crazy for that

Hi anybody know Kuta beach any night markets like pasar malam selling food and souvenirs?

No. There are markets next to Kuta. Clothes and souvenirs but they aren't open all night. Sometimes there are people coming around on the beach selling food like nasi lemak bungkus. Souvenirs too of course. But again I'm not sure till how late.
