Just to share my story.....

My maid went home(Indonesia) to celebrate her Hari Raya Puasa on 12th August and back 25th August 2012.

On the morning when we wanted to bring her to airport and we found S$1k missing. So, we asked her did she take the money, her answer is no. Without any evidence we still drove her to airport. After she left Singapore, we are not very sure that she take the money. So, we cross our fingers and wait for her to come back.

Before the return day, she phoned and remind us to pick her up at the airport next afternoon. She was back to Singapore after her home leave.

Till today, we still can't figure out where is the money........ :scratchhead:

Info for Indo maids:

1. They must have valid passport, then can get work permit (WP) for 2 years or up to 1 month before their passport expires.
2. After you get the WP, you are advised to take them to the embassy in SG(opens 9-12pm; and 3-5pm) to sign the contract.
3. Minimum wage is $400. Does not say off-day is compulsory.
4. If they go back to Indo for holiday, they need to make the KTKLN card - and this can only be done in Indo. Docs required incl the agreement with their Indo Embassy stamp! They need to show this KTKLN card before they can pass their immigrations - so, no KTKLN = no come back to Singapore!

This is their government's way to track and protect the FDW. So, for example, if your maid's passport is still valid, and not going for home leave, looks like no need to go, right? So far, there is no mandate. But if the FDW renews the passport, part of the requirement is also to sign the contract.

Dear all.

Really need opinions from you. I have a maid who is degree holder. We hire her because we hope she can help me take care one of my child ( have two boys, 4.5 and 2.5yrs) when I bring another one go out ( school or enrichment class).

But after she came here, we found she is very quite and no feedback if we ask her do something, example like she just put down the bowl and walk away if she finish feeding the younger one, never say finish not finish . Or just put change on table if I ask her buy something..no tell whether the thing bought or not, how much left , where is the money... Ask her wash vegs, stand there and never say finish or not

I tell her I need your feedback if I ask you do anything, I can check but something I am very busy with the two boys, so I say you tell me after
you done anything,, but no improvement at all, she came here 5 mths already ...

And she got some hearing problem, cannot hear clearly, so she will guess and most of the time is not correct if she cannot hear clearly(I cannot remember how many times already to remind her to ask me if did not hear clearly, I will repeat, it is ok) example, we come back from outside and turn on the tv already. She is at kitchen and doesn't know., I ask her you did not hear, she said' ya, I did not hear'. Or i ask her take towel and she will take a mop... Many many things like this ..Feel very uncomfortable leave the small children to her, but I have no choice as we have no parents to help and husband need travel.. But she is nice lady and will follow instruction to do things...

Really do not know whether I should change her or not...

If you really feel not safe to leave the small kid with her, return her to the agent. Let them settle.

What if anything happen to your kids, she will said, \"Ya, I did not hear\".....

I encouraged a maidless family. Change your mind set and living style and things will fall into places with determination. (I did)

Whats the point of having maids when all odds are against you. What you are seeking is only help and it comes with a hefty price.
Ask yourself if all that you hear, see and experienced is worth it.

That morning, the maid told the agency that she was not well and went to the toilet.
Then in the afternoon the maid gave birth in the agency…the ambulance was called and sent both the mother and baby to the hospital.

I don’t think the maid agency know the maid is pregnant too.

Feel bad for the employer…why should she pay for the loophole…should fight against the agency or the clinic who gave wrong medical report…

My Filipina maid from there. She's ok except for making this and that request now n then ( like having local sim card and off day, which was not in her contract). Worse, when I called the boss of the agency, he supported the maid, saying if I dun grant her off day, I might need to see her black face!
