Hi, can full time working parents share your daily and weekly cleaning house routine?

    • RE: All About Vacuum Cleaner

Hi I currently have a delphin vacuum but the motor seems to have gotten dirty (salesman say can repair but it will cost $$$ and no warranty, otherwise trade-in which is even more $$$$).It is still working but just that it wont be as clean as brand new. Also now I am going maid-less (separate story). Hence I am in the market to look for another vacuum - one that is easy to use (unlike the delphin which can be quite troublesome to set up and clean) but also of course one that can get the house clean. Im a full time working mom and foresee myself vacuuming adhoc or at most once a week, and have a part time cleaner in once a week.

I have been thinking of (1) Dyson cordless v8 (2) iRobot Roomba (3) Atocare. I have 2 kids (1 more on the way) and a mini poodle at home (HDB). Can anyone share their experience / advice with me on these 3?

    • RE: Transferring My Maid

Hi my maid has found a new employer to transfer to, and I have seen the in-principle approval (IPA) letter from MOM (which is addressed to the new employer). Have any employers here transferred their maid and MOM inform you of the date of transfer? I didn’t see this date on the IPA letter and according to the letter, MOM says she can only work for the new employer once the new work permit is issued. It’s not clear when or how she will be receiving the work permit. We are trying to send her over to new employer’s house only when the new work permit is issued / or the date in which it is effective / the date her wp with me is expired…

Thanks zac’s mum. Yes I do plan to have a part-time cleaner to come once a week for the heavier duty cleaning.

My mom will come over to help me for my confinement and a little after. She’s not the stay home, traditional type of mom, so I have ordered confinement tingkat with add-on meals for our lunch and dinner.

I do worry about the laundry also. As for dinners after I go back to work, just have to cook some and buy back/order in some days. Would that increase expenses? Not sure how other super parents can manage it all… was hoping to hear more about how others managed.

    • RE: All About Life Without Maids

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting in a forum. I am currently a FTWM with 2 kids below the age of 5, and expecting #3 in a few months time. Currently have a maid but since this maid has decided to look for a transfer to other employer at the end of her contract (her wp ends in August, so must transfer her out by July), I have decided to do without a live-in maid. I have had other maids before and it’s just too much to worry when having a maid who is at home alone all day.

Both my hubby and I work full time in office, and my kids currently go to full day child care. We tend to the children ourselves in the mornings, evenings and weekends. My maid’s responsibilities are cleaning, laundry, cooking and taking care of my dog (actually not much, just walk him 15-20min a day if no rain). I have never left her alone with my kids.

At first, I am excited about this new lifestyle change, but as time draws closer I am starting to worry how to manage. Any helpful advice for me on how I may start this new adjustment?
