Hello parents. I think i am going to go crazy due to anxiety. My child will be attending P1 next year and i felt that he might struggle academically in school. Though he is in kindy, personally i think it may not be enough to pull him through P1. In kindy, they are still learning phonics at P1. To "catch-up" with my perception of the school’s norm, i sent him for supplementary classes since K1. His learning curve is not steep, but he can read (slow though) but can’t spell very well. As for chinese, he can recognise some words but not write. As for Maths, he can count and do simple addition.
Can any kind soul share with me if the school expects the child to be able to read fluently, spell and write in both languages? I am seriously considering pulling him out from these supplementary classes (IP subjects) and putting him in classes that he likes like art. If he is not on the right track, guess he has to continue with those supp classes. Headache…

RE: Poi Ching
Hello. I have registered my child in Poi Ching in Phase 2B. I am aware of the higher expectation since PCS is a SAP school. However, i would like to gather some feedback on the school's expectation of the child in terms of command of the language in both EL and HCL. For the incoming students, are they expected to be able to read fluently and independently and be able to spell and write in both languages? Would a child has a lot of catch up if he can read (but not fluent) and is still getting used to spelling and writing in K2?
Appreciate sharing from existing parents of students in PCS, please. Thank you!!!

HI Cherrygal, I heard from someone that there is 1 primary school that does that after school. I thought it would be good as i won't have to send my kid to the parish church on Sat. Thanks very much for sharingshiro_ger:
Hi, i have a question for existing parents with kiddos in SJIJ. Does the school conducts catechism class for kids who are catholics? Thanks very much!
Not a parent here but for most catholic schools, there's only bible time (1 period) where some mummies volunteer to discuss bible stories and do some craft. This is not counted as catechism. The official catechism classes should be held in your parish church. Do check with your parish catechism coordinators.

RE: St Gabriel's Primary
Hi, Sorry to barge in here. I am considering registering my boy in St Gabs and would like to find out from current parents if the school offers catechism class for kids who are catholics. Thank you very much!
