Wow! I think last year the intake closed just nice and no ballot was needed. More rabbit babies?

Nonetheless , congrats on getting into SGPS! πŸ™‚

      Hello!! πŸ™‚
Hope your boy will be happy in St Gabriel's! No limitations on Velcro or laced shoes. As long as shoes are totally white.

Hi, may we know what strengths the school has in terms of non-academic activities? Esp in art/music. Thanks.

      Hi,

For CCAs, the popular ones in the school are soccer, band, robotics, wushu and badminton. They have golf but I am not sure if it will still be offered next year.
There's also science club, art club and a digital media club too. CCA is compulsory from p3 onwards although the boys are given opportunities to try out for some CCAs at p2.

Are there instances of bullying in this school? How do the teachers and principal intervene? I saw the utube video of the \"st Gabriel's big bully\", probably secondary school boys but it's scary to think that boy was bullied so badly!

      Hi
I think this video has been around for sometime and it's known to be St Andrew's students. (If you see there is a boy there in white singlet w the word \"saints\" at the Back.) St Gabriel's hv the word Gabrilite at the Back of their PE attires.
That said, I think every school has their fair share of bullies.
St Gabriel's has wonderful counsellers present in the sch. On top of that the teachers do check in w the boys during morning time before lessons on any issues they may have. The principals are also very approachable.
The boys are taught about cyber bullying as well and what they can do if the encounter it

Just to confirm, SGPS does not offer higher Chinese?

      Thanks
They are given the option of Higher Chinese from P3 onwards based on their grades.

We were lucky enough to get a posting for Phase 3, but have not had the chance to see the school because it usually never opened in Phase 3 so we didn't even take it into consideration. Any comments to help ease our concerns? Is it a good school? Is the Chinese difficult?

      Hi Geekgirl πŸ™‚

Chinese standard at SGPS should be on national average level. The school does not teach higher Chinese, so for us, I feel it's still manageable. The teachers will guide you on certain story books to buy to help create intrest in Chinese and Ting Xie is once a week.
Homework load for P1 is rather light, so its not everyday that the boys will be coming home with homework.
My boy will be in P2 next year and i can say he has enjoyed his P1 year in SGPS.
Hope you boy will too! πŸ˜„

      Hi Savannah00

My boy does not take the school bus so not able to advise you on this.
But during dismissal, the boys are put in bus-line, walk-line and car-line groups. I usually see the school buses waiting for the boys once its dismissal time so I don’t think they need to wait to go home via school bus.

If based on last year’s numbers, you should be quite safe to get a slot.

      aprilday,
No the school does not offer higher chinese.
