Iām planning a trip to Hanoi with my elderly parents, my DH and my 3 primary school kids mid Dec 2011 F&E for 6D5N.
Anyone can advise :-
1) weather - what kind of clothes?
2) places to visit?
3) how to arrange for transfer?
4) commuting around there?
5) food?
6) any other things I need to look out for?

RE: 2011 PSLE Discussions and Strategy
Ms tay:
Went for Meet the Parents session on Monday for my younger kids. Teacher says they stream according to English, Maths and Science results. For MT, they are sent to different classes for different languages at different levels...Brenda10:
Hi Ms Tay,
Your DS is a bright boy (based on your input that he is top 2 in the level this year) and can remain at the same good class until P6.
One of the moe teachers told me that the schools stream the students every year. They do not depend on the overall result ,they only depend on two subjects English n Maths . Anyone can confirm this ? :scratchhead:
She also showed me how they allocated my son to his class for next year. -

RE: 2011 PSLE Discussions and Strategy
Augmum:
Hi Augmum,sall:
Hi Leanne, is your ds's teacher going to call the top student in his sch or the top student of his class? I thought teachers are strictly not allowed to reveal any details at all before the clock strikes 12.
oh....din know that teachers are not allowed to reveal info before 12.
But i heard one of my gal ' s P6 classmate's mummy called the FT and asked abt the class results....
and she revealed my gal 's results......( i din even know that we could call to ask).
you mean you already know your gal's psle result this year now? -
RE: All About Preparing For PSLE

PSLE Oral and listening compre starts in Aug. Prelim in end Aug. 2011 PSLE starts end Sep. FYI, from Aug to Sep, they practically stay in school until 5.30pm or has loads of homework (as in 3 papers per day). So you hardly have time to sit down with him to do your papers. I think grilling starts immediately after SA1 results out.skss:
On top of these, I feel that do not stress your kids too early... It's a bell curve too. I let my DS take CA1 without muching stressing on him (as it is not added to overall marks). When his marks come down (sure to come down as he's v playful in Feb/Mar period), then i pushed him a bit in SA1. From June onwards, I pushed him real hard. If you push too early, their energy level is very high afterwards, it will drop(cos they get sick and tired of always studying... of course during the intensive grilling :pokeeye: , I treat him to his favourite foods and fruits). So, try to catch the high energy level for prelim.
I planned a schedule for Nov/Dec. Not following it very faithfully...using a little reverse psychology on him now...Let him play all day to see if he gets guilty when I keep quiet.
Was about to ask you when is the right time to push...not too early in case burnt out (real battle is in Oct). So June is a good time to do so ? I have absolutely no idea how to plan. :imdrowning: :?:
it depends on your kid's character though. If they are already very good, then let them keep as is. -
RE: Jurongville Secondary School
Masry:
As their school is having PRIME, (renovation) Jurongville is holding at Boonlay next to Jurong Point Shopping Centre. They will be moving back to their original site at Jurong East (nearby to Jurong polyclinic) in 2012. My boy is studying at that school, so far so good.
May I know if your boy is in Express or Normal? How is the behaviour of the children in this school? -
RE: Jurong Secondary School
Evalim:
Hi! So far my elder ds is in JSS , he is in\"O\" level this year, the school is fine to me.. the teachers are good, they helped the kids alot real drilling for the \"O level\" they did what they can to help the kids... the principal is a nice guy! He is a motivator that motivates the kids to do better for the O level.... they have night class for the past few months to drill the kids for O level...
I remembered 4yrs ago my elder ds selected JSS as his secondary school, his form teacher is a nice lady, she is very concern on the kids academic and what they do at home. She spoke to the kids too....The school also engaged some vendors to commence talk in the school, topics like \"Bonding with the children\" the talk are free of charge for the parents and kids....
Now, I have a younger ds PSLE this year, will consider JSS but I do hope my younger ds can make it into this school....
there seems to be a DBSS to be built right beside the school. It could be noisy for the next 2 years at least. -
RE: 2011 PSLE Discussions and Strategy
Does anyone knows what time to report to school for the PSLE results collection? Can someone share the flow of events in school itself on that day? All schools have the same flow of events?

RE: All About Preparing For PSLE
Helping--Hand:
:grphug: your parents must be so proud of you.... don't think my kiddies are so independent....Essential:
Hi I am stress too cause my DS will be taking PSLE next year.
Unless your child is so lazy and no determination, does not even care PSLE, you will need to worry. I started to be lazy but as PSLE is coming, I personally bought synthesis book and comprehension close book and in the end complete all the assignments.
:moneyflies:
Good luck to all 2000' batch of Singaporeans @PSLE next year~
