      Hi,

I would like to seek help for the DSA application and would grealy appreciate if anyone can help.

The kids are require to write a personal statement about the achievement (other than grade) in school or community. However, most of the achievement DD achieved would be in grade. Just wonder what other things we can write, since she does not have any achievement in the community too?

As for the other topic, is the situation from experience that one can uphold a value or principle to them. What can the kids write about it?

We are really in a loss and hope that someone can give us some advice.

      Thank you
hello 🙂 achievement in the community need not be something recognised (by certificate or by any other forms). It can just be a CIP/community project that your DD is proud of. i guess what they're looking out for is not only people with academic excellence but passion for their own community and society (don't be overly fake tho, sincerity most likely wld also count(: ) guess it's about the same for the other topic, it's just writing about an experience showing your people-centered character or some sort of value...
      jia you for DSA!

    • RE: Merits of single-sex school and mixed school

It is true that there’s outside-school classes and the internet that allows both girls and boys to interact. But i think single-sex schools prevent them from interacting during school time… less of a distraction. yup, out of sec sch the children will interact with the opposite gender but by then they’d be more mature and if you’re concerned that your kids don’t have the chance to know how to behave around the opposite gender, there are many opportunities to learn in sec sch (many interschool activities and competition, etc)

not saying that single-sex schs are definitely better tho. schools like RV also have very well-behaved students and ones who excel academically 🙂 it’s really up to preference and interest, based on the school’s niche areas and progs, not only based on whether it’s single-sex or mixed 🙂

May be can visit the school and find out during the open house? I am also waiting for the open house to get more info on DSA.

Thanks, underthesea. I will try to find out more info during the open house. NYGH is dd's dream school. She hopes to DSA into the school. But she's a mainstreamer and everyone is telling her how almost \"impossible\" it is to DSA via academic domain for mainstreamer.

hello(: although it is true that NYGH accepts many GEP students, there are still quite a bit of mainstreamers who get into nanyang through academic DSA. It's not impossible! 🙂 (I know friends who got into nanyang through DSA and were previously mainstreamers)
just choose a more confident subject to DSA for...good luck!

By the way, how do one change a second cca after a year?

there is an option to change your CCA after a year(if i'm not wrong it's through an application form), however it is highly discouraged to do so as changing a CCA only after a year would mean that there is very little time for skills and talents to be developed in that CCA 🙂 (this is for main cca)

If it's for joining a second CCA, it's a very simple task...just fill in an application form and u're done
