Ask school teachers to suggest. They will tell you which books and where to get extra questions. Some may even give students the extra questions.
Thank you very much for the tips!:)

      :thankyou:

Hi, may I check where I can buy references books/ practise materials for ACSI IP year 1 for the various subjects?

It seems not so many books in Polular Bookstore suit for IP students.

      Thank you!:)

Yes. A significant number of Year 4 students still take the O-levels there.
I see, thank you very much!:)

Hi, can anyone please share whether ACSI is normally one of the schools which are used as venues for the GCE O-Level written examinations?

I note the following from MOE's website:

\"The last day of the final school term for schools which will be used as venues for the GCE O-Level written examinations, will be Friday, 25 October 2024.\"

Just would like to know whether the last day of the final school term this year is 25 October 2024 or 15 November 2024.

      Many thanks!
      :thankyou:

Is the psle aggrgate AL score of 5 the same as previous year for ESIS?
      Yes, correct.

      \"Cut-off for 2023:
The PSLE Qualifying Aggregate Score for 2023 ESIS Secondary 1 intake is 5. Singaporean students who meet the criteria and are admitted into an Independent School will be awarded ESIS. Like previous years, eligible students will receive an Eligibility Letter when they collect their PSLE results.\"

I got the above information from ACS(Independent)'s website. They have a chatbot for enquiries on S1 admission.

May I know if the cut off point for ESIS is AL5, does it mean all SC w AL5 will be eligible? Or the top one third who qualify for IS will strictly narrow down to the last single one who falls within top one-third according to your raw total marks?

Just wondering if any AL5 SC who didn't get ESIS?

    • RE: All About GEP

In my son’s school, teachers called the parents’ of the selected students this morning. No call this morning means not selected. I thought at least there will be an outcome letter as well for those who are not selected. Maybe those letters will be released on Monday, 9 Nov.

Speaking from a GEP parents, my boy is in GEP P4 this year, however, he struggle very badly as he is not the top student since P1-3, he is just a middle range student who scores around 80s for most subject. GEP has a minimum passing mark of 70% and their paper are much much harder compared to mainstream. Somehow, this year is very stressful for myself and my boy. He has officially failed his 2 subject (with not meeting the 70%) mark, I am waiting for teacher's advise, what is going to happen to him. In my opinion, if any middle range kids who got into GEP, they need to really sacrafice a lot more, additional tution and more homework, I am a more relax parents therefore we really suffer.
I don't believe in just study and no play, I still allow play time for him as I feels that he is already trying so hard and stress. If we have another chance to choose again, we might drop GEP as this is really too stressful for us since we are not the top performer student. Parents in the GEP class are also not very keen to share information as they are too competitive.
Another thing to mention GEP sylabus are very secretive no guidelines or textbook on what topic they are learning. No 10 years series or anything, therefore it is not easy to to guide the kids.
Hi leengor, thanks very much for sharing!
      :thankyou:

Hi, I am new to this area of GEP. If my daughter did not receive anything today, does that mean she is not selected? Cos she said that one of her friends was selected. Would there be any news that the student did not get in? Thanks!

Looks like some school give rejection letter and some don't. I assume this should be same across schools?

I think it should be the same arrangement across schools.
