at least there was some form of action.
It went on TNP and chinese papers. I saw.
It’s just a very lucky thing your kid was alright. Hope you find a better school soon.
Btw, those under small wonder… i have some uniforms (very new one) to donate. If your kid is still there, can arrange to collect it from me somewhere near the school.
thank you.

Appleworm, evacoven...
yes totally agree with you. I feedbacked my thoughts to the principal before and i seriously dont think she answered my concerns at all. Merely brushed through my comments. I just gave up halfway talking to her.
And yes losing a child is a BIG deal. evacoven.... i'm so glad you got your kid back. I would have been traumatised!
I'm not sure why Anglic would say all the teachers are awesome. During the months i was there and the parents i've met, I have not heard from anyone that they would use the word awesome on the teachers. Really.
I saw the letter from the principal Anne about the child losing incident.. i dont think it addressed the issue. Firstly whatever she said should be implemented at all times! not when an incident like this occurred? That's why safety is something I am so worried at all times when I left my kid with them.
And I'm super happy with the new childcare centre also. terrific principal who is very hands on. Great teachers with constant feedback. Proper checks in and out. Very prompt in hygiene. Most importantly, very reassuring to both the kids and parents. They have been a pioneer in this field and to be very honest I've enrolled my kids before small wonder already. But due to the fact that I wanted my kids to learn something during the period where they are waiting for enrolment I decided to put them temporarily at small wonder. It was the BIGGEST mistake ever made. -

Anglic…
your reply to all the parents here seemed like you are a teacher from the school. If you are, please stop the nonsensical comments. It will not work.
If you are a parent, i think you are being rude to a fellow parent.
Me, as others, are sharing what we have experienced. There are nothing that I said which are false. And it’s not an isolated incident so I hope you get the facts right.
But being a fellow parent, I dont want to say anything rude to you but just leave the other parents to have their choice whether or not to send the kid to Small wonder again.
I understand they are new. When you are new the more you need to be careful. The more you need to ensure procedures are in place. But even when we feedbacked so many times the centre didnt do much to reassure us.
And Anglic. running a childcare doesnt mean just to get the teachers to sing song, talk, and play with the kids will do. It’s a bigger responsibility and trust that they have to handle. If you think that equals to a good childcare, then I have nothing else to say. -

Hi matildas01
we might have bumped into each other before…
anyway… if u ask around everyone who enrolled in, I’m positive there are alot of feedback.
admin is super messed up. no thorough follow through on procedures, paperwork and registration. pls if you do enrol the kids, u have to keep track of everything including payment and refunds, schoolwork, and uniform.
few months of school… my kid’s daily book has no comments of his progress/behaviour at all. -

Hi quirkypiesayshi
Oh… what class did u enrol your child for? -
RE: Small Wonder Preschool @ Blk 348 Yishun Ave 11
Hi Kiasu Newbie,
As a parent of two kids from the same centre, I strongly discourage you to enrol your kids there.
There are 1001 things that are not done properly or correctly.
- There are no specific person to sign a child in and do proper checks at all times. Randomly I do the checks for my kids many times already because the rest of the teachers were either busy or late and thus I have to do the checks.
- Teachers are often late and not committed. The Chinese teacher of my son’s class comes at around 10am to 1030am. So what happens beforehand would be another random teacher of other classes to handle (but i meant just to oversee). The kids; will then throw all the toys over the floor, cry alot, snatch toys from one another.
- Hygiene. This is something we parents are concerned of. Half of my child’s class are often with kids with runny muscus flowing all the way to the mouth. So imagine the amount of bacteria around. When they have their meals, there isnt any discipline so everyone scooped their food all over and they are everywhere on the floor. Just shortly after the NEW school is open, they already have case of HFMD.
- Professional behaviour by the teachers. In front of the parents (me), the teachers can discuss loudly of how badly behaved the other kid is. I feel as a parent, not right to criticise in the way between another parent and in front of the kid. Discouragement is the worst of all from a school.
- Principal has no involvement at all. Of all the schools, this is the worst. I have never been so NOT close to a school principal at all. Even when my child was there and i wanted to withdraw her, she has no idea which class she is from. And there wasnt much persuasion or improvement she suggest to keep her from leaving.
- Academic and artwork. Don’t think about letting your kid learn anything from the school. There will be nothing except bad behaviour. My son’s artwork for 2months consist of 5-6 A3 size paper with scribbles. He’s Nursery 2. My daughter’s artwork consist of A3 paper with scribbles. She’s PG. When i feedback to the principal, she explained that it’s the way the school functions, they dont even tell the kids where the eyes are supposed to be in a drawing. If it’s wrong, they will know it sooner or later where it should be.
- Administrative is horrible. When i first enrolled my son, there wasnt any paperwork for me to fill up, until he started school and I asked for them. School uniforms are out of stock but when the stock arrived, no one informed and I had to ask again. And now, my son’s new school principal just told me that the Small Wonder hasnt withdrawn him from their system (his last day of school was 31 Dec 2014) and the new school cannot key in to their system. Talk about pitying the new admin girl.
- Safety. Very relaxed system. When my mom first picked my son up, I phoned the school, wanting to text them my mom’s IC. But the admin said no need. When i asked how they identify my mom as his grandmother, she said 'oh since you have informed, we will inform the teacher". And then, when my mom went to pick him up, she was just let into the school with no need for identification proof and brought my son back. And she said the class teacher said no one informed her that it is my mom to pick him up.
Bottomline. It’s a very very very BAD childcare. Dont send your kids there.
I’ve withdrawn both my kids from the school. So happy with the new school now (YAY!)
