I'm an ex student from SJC and my experience in the school was the best. It's the best school in my schooling life, and although it may not be one of the best schools in singapore academically, the environment in school was really good. Teachers were like mothers/fathers to us who were extremely caring and dedicated to the well being of us. Although i've graduated for awhile and pursuing my degree now, i often think back about my caring teachers and my school life in sjc. And inevitably, we have our fair share of students who misbehave, but i guess that's present in every school. But i think the bulk of the girls are well behaved and will be motivated to study and work hard when it comes to exams:) we also have plenty of leadership programmes and enrichment programmes that contribute to our school life:)
To be honest, academically, the school isnt too bad as well. I belong to the batch before the change in principal and my batch had high value added results for o levels. I was from the first class and most of my classmates had L1R5 of 9 and below, before bonus points. I remember my friends from other classes did pretty well too, good scores which is better than expected based on our PSLE scores. Theres also a fair bit of us pursuing our degrees now in the different universities of singapore (i've friends in NUS, NTU, SMU, SIM and SIT pursuing a variety of degrees from business, to arts and social sciences, to pharmacy, to nursing, to engineering, to IT). I definitely think that the school environment is much more important than the academic results produced, so given a choice, i'd choose SJC again and again. Anyway, i believe that our results are an outcome of our own determination to achieve the targets we set for ourselves:) I've no regrets entering the school and i think that every school has their good and bad side of things. If sjc offers what your kid would be interested in, i think the school deserves a chance
