Good students if good in all, are punished to bear the slow teaching pace in normal school hours in class and have to stay back after schools more times for the enrichment classes. Much challenging questions and excise can be issued during normal class curriculum if the top classes are steamed out so that appropriate faster pace of teaching can be applied. Poor kids who have to spend more hours in school.


However for some branded schools, year after year, they churned up great numbers of kids that pass round 1 screening tests and skewed good percentage of students students that do well very well in psle compared to many neigbourhood schools, maybe really the multi talented classes really don’t make a difference because most are generally good. Nevertheless, still think having a couple of top classes is still better because the kids can be stretched more effectively and happily.

But in many neigbourgood schools where there can have much disparity among the students ability, maybe Better opt for gep when selected as time is really not well spent in such schools if they use similar multi talent class scheme

Streaming at p3 does help to stretch the kids learning abilities.


Last year, heard some schools choose to have p3 classes to have all mixed ability because the schools say follow moe guidelines, all schools are good schools, all class are good class, so kids from all different academic abilities, from all different social economic background can mix well together for better child social development. So Some kids become deadly bored in class when the pace becomes too slow for them. Wonder which school still practise this moe guidelines, that is there is no top classes.

Do take note though that there might be students who have medical certificates to take test later.

There was a paper (Mathematics?), DC said two booklets were given. Booklet A would be collected after a certain time, and they would left will only booklet B. DC said attempts as many questions (like Speed test) in the booklet A before the booklet taken away. I was wondering whether kids after completing booklet A would check through the answers or they just went over to booklet B. …Anyway DC had checked all before booklet taken away.

Screening test marked by school. Selection test marked by MOE. Top 1% of the entire P3 cohort offered GEP. There is no reserved list to GEP.

You can be stronger in one, but you must be strong on both. The GEP programme is very rigorous. The student would not be able make it she/he is not strong on both. Hence GEP emphasis on English, Maths and does well in general ability questions.

School will try 3 SBC classes for P3 next year
