Pasir Ris Primary is not confirmed a shoo-in for SC < 1km?
Missus still prefer SMPS, as it is affliated to St Margaret Secondary. But we stay in Pasir Ris. Going to be tough for DD travelling to SMPS (6yrs) + secondary (4 yrs).
SMPS current site is at MacPherson which is still manageable from Pasir Ris. But the school will move back to Selegie on the hill top after the completion of the building. As for the affiliation, SMSS is in the west at Farrer Road. A young 12+ year old girl to travel on public transport for such long distance may not be a nice idea (of course, that’s only my view).
So if u thinking of applying and thn withdraw, there’s a risk that the withdrawal may be delayed due to system issues. Also since this year is all online, u may not know the numbers on live updates

The psle score won’t be super low because the school original location captures one of the most expensive residential estates in River Valley and Orchard. The parents can afford high enrichment fees. if the average score is not comparatively impressive , it could be the school focuses more on character development. As a Mission school, this is reasonable too. That’s just my guess
Yes being the oldest girls school in SG with so much history.. The PSLE cop isn't super low either. Why not much hype over this school? -
RE: Bukit Timah Primary
Having the class being unsupervised is very dangerous. Some children have a tendency towards violence and school is also not inclined to take responsibility for any mishap.

SMPS rarely (probably never) ballot for SC. Not many would have applied for PV.

Any reason why is the school unpopular, other than the temporary move? I believe the return to original site will be delayed due to the construction disruption during CB -

We will be moving him out of BTPS and out of the local schools in general. Given the close network of the teachers and principals, i am not surprised that everywhere he goes, the words will spread. Nonetheless, many parents urge us to stay on and he likes his friends here.
This applies for all incidents where other children are affected. A good educator will not sweep an issue under the carpet. That is so yesteryear. He will use it as an example for everyone to do better next time. It is also not always necessary to point on individuals. If only there is an effort to do better the next time I personally would be more than happy. I have also made my mistakes when I was young. Then we can forgive and at the same time learn from it.Smurfete\" post_id=\"1968159\" time=\"1584951443\" user_id=\"86022:
The school could have and should have use this opportunity to educate the children that they need to exercise care towards their classmates.

Are you considering changing schools? Just asking. Anyway, I believe they will close schools pretty soon.
What makes me utterly disappointed is that in their blinded attempt to sweep the issue under the carpet, the school swiftly shifted the blame to the victim. Next time which victim dares to speak up against the bully after knowing the school will create \"facts\" for the bully and the victim will need to shoulder another round of emotional torment apart from the physical injuries. Yes, they used the word \"fact\" and conveyed to us that this is a public system and the school decision is final. The school had not directly responded to our repeated request for them to clarify and rectify if their facts are proven not to be facts but a fabrication of evidence. -

Yes, I agree with you. The school could have and should have use this opportunity to educate the children that they need to exercise care towards their classmates. They should also be taught to be nice as snatching to forbid another from writing his name is not gracious and could result in irreversible hurt to someone
Accidents can occur during interplay, and that is normal for young kids to come sometimes home with bruises and scratches. Some parents are overly sensitive. We all know that.
But no matter which way a student holds his pencil (or any utensil), there should be nobody hitting or wiping across another child's face. I expect a normal 7 year old to know what hurts others.
But to be deepest disappointment, the VP turned the story around and accused my child to be the one who turned the pencil. Like what you say, the way that the child holds the pencil is a secondary matter. The fact is someone could be blinded for life. The other student did not explain herself to my child but VP, as an authoritative figure, spoke on her behalf and emphasized repeatedly that it was an accident. If they are going to turn a deaf ear to my child and eventually shift all the blame to him, why should they torment my child with so many questions. He had tried his very best to give them an accurate account of the situation and its not difficult to get a teacher to vouch for his integrity. -

I really regretted for not hearing your advice earlier. In a week where he attended school for 4 days, he was hurt 4 times. Among these incidents, he almost lost his eye in one of these occasions. To forbid him to write his name on the group assignment, another student forcefully snatched his pencil and turned the sharp edge up and scratched his face from the corner of his eye all the way across to the tip of his nose.He will have been blind one eye if his reflex action in shutting his eye lid is any slower. Ironically, the school (without witnessing the situation) spoke on the behalf of the student and accused of my son for turning the pencil sharp side up and thus resulting in the accident. Snatching pencil is NOT bully, school said its typical of a P2 child and such behaviour is acceptable as the student is very young. But then, when my son tickled another boy in play at the beginning of P1, I was informed that his behaviour is unacceptable. The school did not give me an explanation on this inconsistency
No open house. In case you wonder why there is so little activity in this particular forum, well, don't wonder anymore and look ahead for another school.
In the next incident, a student stepped on my child's hand. The student told my child that she has the right to do so because her mother is a teacher in the school. My child did not know the name of this student. We are awaiting for the school to reply to us. But I am not surprised that this is either going to be another accident or is it my child's fault again to place his hand for the other student to step on -

whether dealing with small or big incidents, this is a very accident-prone primary school. To the extent that a child almost lost his eye, he was pressurized by the school to accept that it was an accident and he only got himself to blame.
Hi Peter-k
Much thanks for your quick response. It is indeed a concern if the school tends to sweep issues under the carpet. -
