    • RE: Transferring Secondary School at Sec 2

Hi emoh and phtthp, thanks for all your replies! I'm really glad that I managed to receive many suggestions in such a short duration. I will definitely consider all the pointers of advice the both of you have given to me. I have already looked at TKGS, SCGS and CHIJ SNGS school websites and realised that on TKGS school website, there doesn't seem to be any link or information about sec 2 school transfer so I'll have to look more into that. But, really great thanks for all the advice. I'm thinking of doing double or triple science stream for my subject combination, really great thanks for all the advice!! šŸ™‚

    • RE: Transferring Secondary School at Sec 2

Hi I'm currently a Sec 2 student and I'm also facing a difficulty. I got a PSLE score of 232 but I'm thinking of transferring to an all girls IP school for the followig reasons:

      1. I'm a top student in all my subject classes, and possibly even top of my cohort (according to my teachers). My teachers also mention that at this rate, I have a very high potential of doing very well in O-level, which is why I will definitely want to widen my learning and subjects as it'll certainly benefit my future from many different aspects. I understand that different schools have different standards of their exam papers and teaching styles, etc., but I'm really willing to take up the challenge.
      2. I'm studying in a very toxic environment, with many students across the level using vulgarities frequently. They don't seem to study. And sorry to say, but from my point of view, it seems that most of them are boys. They literally use vulgarities often and talk and curse one another with words which are unappropriate and they actually admit to the class that they watch certain not aged-appropriate videos about certain sexualy topics and scenes online, which I really do not wish to specify or elaborate on. I'm very hurt by the fact that they sometimes use it on me for no reason. I honestly never thought that these type of things would happen at this age.
      3. Many of my classmates don;t actually study and I don't know why but there seems to be this thinking among the girls that if you don't like to gossip, they kinda avoid you, so I'm genrally in a very toxic environment. I don't have any friends from school and I often get left out during group work or even if someone actually asks me to be in his/her group, it's just for the sake of meeting the minimum group size required by the teacher. Many of my classmates say that I'm a nerd and make fun of me because of that and emotionally bully me with their words. I've spoken to my parents about this and they encouraged me to try to make some friends, and I've tried but it always just doesn't end up right. I also get angry with many of my classmates as they try to make use of me by acting very nice to me and hanging out with me for the few days before a group work exam so that I'll join their group and 'carry' them. I heard one of my classmates really using the exact words that I'll carry them. I don't like getting made use of and then after that, they no longer talk or hang out with me and ignore me like I'm invisible.
It's really hurtful nowadays in school and I just really need some advise. Do you think that it's possible for an IP school to accept me despite my low PSLE score? Because if I don't get accepted, I really don't know what to do. Please provide me with some help, thanks for your time šŸ™‚
